Another big drop in UM-Missoula enrollment-7.6%
As you probably know they have about 1,500 enrolled at their vo-tech schools in Missoula and Hamilton.
Total enrollment is 10,692 (source:Missoulian), but the main university is probably around 9,000.

Re: Another big drop in UM-Missoula enrollment-7.6%
Has MSU announced it's fall enrollment yet? I believe we were about 17,300 last fall, so we should be very close to doubling UM this fall. I presume MSU's numbers also include the Bozeman COT? About how many students do they have?

Thanks for the info. So apparently they haven't announced the enrollment for Fall 2018 yet?

Wasn't it only about 4 or 5 years ago, that their enrollment was still slightly higher than ours? Maybe it's been a little longer than that, since we passed them?

I believe it was 2012 or 2013 when MSU passed UM in enrollment.

Re: Another big drop in UM-Missoula enrollment-7.6%
That's crazy...in just 5-6 years, MSU has gone from being smaller than UM, to having almost double their enrollment. Approximately 16,300 to 9,200 at the main campuses. If the trends continue, we actually could double them in another 2-3 years. Watching their ads on the SWX football telecasts, would not inspire me to send my kid there. I would fire their ad agency, if I was the UM prez. I really don't think those ads are very effective. They're just all fluff, plus an emphasis on Griz football.

What else does um have to brag about than griz football? I guess that could show more basketball, but sports is really all that um has going for it, so I guess that the ad agency is doing about as much as they can.John K wrote: ↑Mon Sep 24, 2018 4:58 pmThat's crazy...in just 5-6 years, MSU has gone from being smaller than UM, to having almost double their enrollment. Speaking of the advertising — when Midco produced the SDSU game, the university promo ads that were shown were, logically, for MSU. PAC-12 schools advertise themselves during games. But when good old SWX has the broadcast, they show um ads during MSU games, and they show MSU ads during the um games. Has anyone else noticed this? To me, it is a real puzzler. Do they have the schools reversed?

Don't they generally show some ads for both schools during both schools' games?Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 1:52 amSpeaking of the advertising — when Midco produced the SDSU game, the university promo ads that were shown were, logically, for MSU. I'd be interested to see what the 4-year campus freshman class numbers look like.

These are really amazing numbers and truly sad for the western neighbors. I wonder when or even if this will affect their recruiting. Guessing most aren't even aware of the decline or even care???coachouert wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 9:55 amStay tuned at https://mus.edu/data/dashboards/first-time-freshmen.asp for updated dat.

It's pathetic and should be embarrassing for anyone who has any affiliation to UM. Heads should be rolling over there. Instead, they'll deflect and blame a hundred other things, then show you more pictures of the football stadium and "Champions" Center.RickRund wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 8:52 amThese are really amazing numbers and truly sad for the western neighbors. That's great graph. They don't have the 2018 data up yet (MSU is up and UM is down), but even the 2017 freshman class data is staggering.coachouert wrote: ↑Tue Sep 25, 2018 9:55 amStay tuned at https://mus.edu/data/dashboards/first-time-freshmen.asp for updated dat.

Unless you are an athlete, why would anyone go to um? They are cutting funding from programs, and eliminating staff and faculty positions from every part of the university....except they never touch athletics.BozoneCat wrote: ↑Wed Sep 26, 2018 10:36 amIt's pathetic and should be embarrassing for anyone who has any affiliation to UM.
