Leif Erickson almost go the Wolfpack back in the state title game for a third straight year but came up about 30 yards short in Bozeman in the semifinals. Leif's last pass of his high school career was a Bennett Hostetler interception inside the 10 yard line to seal a state title game berth for Bozeman. Leif played well in that game against a really good defense. Glacier relied a ton on their power run game this year behind Thomas Trefney and co. But Ericksen showed a strong arm and good accuracy in the passing game. Do not know about college offers or interest for Leif but he and the rest of the 2015 Glacier team exceeded expectations all season.
Leif just committed to play at DIII Whitworth University. Congrats to him!
Cool!
I would guess that Whitworth also offers the option to play baseball if he wants. They have a good baseball program, and allow players to do both.

That is true, however D III schools cannot offer athletic scholarships and Whitworth is very expensive. I'm guessing he is a great student as well and is going to get some good academic scholarships.

Over $55K per year at Whitworth. Lots of academic help if they qualify. The problem is that a lot of it is 1 year aid. So the aid available diminishes each year. Very good school though.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Spoke with Balue earlier. He is very excited to become a Bobcat. I have umpired little league baseball with Balue several times over the last few years and he's a great kid, fun to talk with. Here's the updated story:

What is the correct pronunciation of Balue.....Ba-luu?

msubobcats@outlook.com
Audiatur et altura pars: Let both sides be fairly heard.
Audi alteram partem: listen to the other side.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Awesome get. Wonder if he's good enough to play next year? Poor kid, already had three surgeries and a torn ligament in his foot? #-o

Keeping you guys up-to-date on who is left in Montana:

Scholarship players:

Chase Benson - DL (UM and MSU have offered)
Cole Rosling - DE (UM and MSU have offered)

Fringe "scholarship worthy" players:

Jacob Hadley - WR (UM has offered and MSU has interest)Payton O'Reilly - LB (I don't know what type of offer is on the table but both schools have interest)
Kyle Finch - LB/DE (Was a shoe-in to be a Griz but Jeff Choate, Ty, and Armstrong have jumped on him; he was a big fan of Gregorak)
Devin Maua - DE/DT (Has interest or an offer from both schools; most likely a PWO)
Trace Bradshaw - DL (Has interest or an offer from both schools; most likely a PWO)

Preferred Walk-On or Walk-On:

Conner Bokma - RB (Wants to be a Bobcat but will get offers from NAIA schools)
Justin May - WR/DB (Has interest from the Cats but will get offers from NAIA schools
Will Hunthausen - WR (Has interest from both Cats and Griz; possible PWO)
Dallas Mack - S (Has gotten the offseason awards and is one of the starting safeties for the East in the shrine game; if you see a Badlands bowl invite, Dallas may just deserve a PWO)
Ben Hardy - TE (PWO offer has possibly been thrown out there to Ben; has heavy interest from the Frontier conference and possibly some North Dakota schools like DSU and Minot State)
Michael Banna - FB (Banna had interest from the previous coaching staff and I still think he has a future in the Big Sky as a blocking fullback)
Sam Sparks - RB/ATH (A good athlete who is versatile)
Cal Hollow - S (Cal is on the smaller side but he was one of the better safeties in Montana last year; good athlete to boot)

Kyle Schulte - DE (Verballed to Montana Western)
Gus Herzog - DE (Verballed to Montana Tech)
