Two new Big Sky schools?

Post by kmax » Tue Nov 11, 2014 11:49 am

No, not in football...but I got you to look at the thread didn't I?

Anyway, I went to the Big Sky web page this morning to look up some stats and happened to mouse over the "Member Schools" drop down on the site and was kind of surprised when the school at the top of the list was Binghamton University. Also found in the list was Hartford. Kind of shocked seeing a school from New York and one from Connecticut on the list of Big Sky schools. They aren't listed on the Big Sky Institutions page but finally found one tidbit in the history of the Big Sky page (http://www.bigskyconf.com/sports/2008/6 ... 60508.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;):
Men’s golf returns as a championship sport in 2014 for the first time since 2002. The University of Hartford and Binghamton University have joined the Big Sky as affiliate members in golf.
Did I miss this somewhere? Was completely surprised to see this. I know it's just men's golf but am I completely alone in thinking this is a bit ridiculous for the Big Sky to now have a footprint that stretches across all four timezones? This is crazier than the Sun Belt. Maybe I'm getting old but I really miss the days of a solid Big Sky where every school was a full member and played all of the core sports.

The problem here is that you are trying to use LOGIC and talk about the NCAA and Conference alignment. Logic+NCAA=wasted brain cells. You can spend all day thinking logically and when you apply it to the NCAA you'll end up insane.

Man, I hate those f-ing guys ... we need to get start up a men's golf team so we can crush these new rivals and rub it into their someplace-in-New-York and no-longer-have-the-Whalers faces.
