If its for money purposes' its basically a wash.
if you need another home game, how about NDSU comes to Bozeman, you give us every single ticket outside your booster club/students.
if its for your fcs playoff position just say so.
any answers to those above will be helpful... and Ill leave you guys be for awhile , in the meantime ill be reminiscing over my texas trip video's from jan.
I'll answer these in order, but the main item is No. 2 (money purposes)
1. SFA is located in Texas, but SMU is located in the Dallas area, which is prime recruiting country for MSU and also the home of several current players, including four seniors. SFA is 185 miles away from Dallas and 140 from Houston with lots of traffic congestion. Tough to get recruits from either location to Nacogdoches (SFA).
2. It isn't a wash. MSU was faced with a five home game schedule. Five home games vs. six home games is probably in the neighborhood of $500,000 for MSU. The money from buying out NDSU and bring in Monmouth (-$300,000) and playing SMU (+$300,000) is a wash, but thats only part of the picture. MSU gains a considerable amount of money from a single home game and has $4 million from the State to pay off for its EZ addition, not to mention designs on other additions to the stadium.
3. I'm sure your AD and our AD think that is nonsense.
4. It has nothing to do with FCS playoff position. MSU probably has a better chance of beating NDSU than SMU. NDSU is good, but not as good as SMU. So even if consider MSU loses to either one, it doesn't improve or decrease MSU's playoff position.
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
