Voice from the past

Post by gtfcat84 » Fri Mar 11, 2011 2:00 pm

Sitting here listening to a Spring Training game between the Red Sox and Twins; used to listening to the Red Sox announcers, but this voice is awfully familiar. Then it dawns on me...it's Kris Atteberry! Didn't know he was doing play by play.

I was driving across North Dakota in May of 2007, on my way home from grad school and picked up a familiar voice on the radio. I spent a solid 30 seconds going WTF!? Who is this? How do I know this radio announcer in the midwest so well!?

Saw this announced a couple months ago that he was going to be doing some play by play. Congrats to Kris! Miss listening to his calls of Bobcat games.

The Minnesota Twins, in conjunction with the Treasure Island Baseball Network (TIBN), announced today that John Gordon and Dan Gladden will return as the club’s primary radio broadcast tandem for the 2011 season. In addition, the Twins announced the balance of the club’s radio broadcast team for the coming season including Kris Atteberry and Jack Morris as well as the return of former Twins play-by-play voices Ted Robinson and Bob Kurtz.
“Kris Atteberry has been our studio voice since 2007, and we are looking forward to hearing his blend of acutely keen baseball knowledge and humor during game broadcasts.
Atteberry begins his fifth season as a member of the TIBN broadcast team in 2011. He will handle play-by-play and/or analyst duties for approximately 45 games while once again serving as studio host for the TIBN Pre-Game Lineup Card and Postgame Download. Prior to joining the Twins, Atteberry, spent five summers (2002-06) calling games on radio and television for the St. Paul Saints. He has also served as the voice of Montana State football and basketball from 2002-06. Atteberry, 38, is a native of Bozeman, Montana and a 1996 graduate of Stanford University with a degree in English Literature.

Absolutely the two best play by play announcers we've ever had. Wish we still had them

Both were great Broadcasters. I can still hear that call of the Corey Smith runback on the Griz in my mind to this day :) (MSU's version of havlichek steals the ball :) ).
