Ryan Cole down to two...
Between ISU and EWU... I am positive that we are gonna be a FORCE next year, and getting him would just add fuel to the fire...

Doug...
Oliver has one year remaining on his current contract, and he will have his best team EVER next year. As a matter of fact, ISU will be the team to beat the next couple of years in the BSC, and I'm not just saying that as a 'fan'. Montana, and MSU should be decent as well. EWU will be above average...

You realize that MSU has every single contributer coming back next season don't you?8poky8 wrote:Oliver has one year remaining on his current contract, and he will have his best team EVER next year. Re: Doug...
..... Plus a 6-11 transfer who started as a freshman and soph at Indians State coming on board, and Durham still has 3-4 scholarships to fill.wbtfg wrote:You realize that MSU has every single contributer coming back next season don't you?8poky8 wrote:Oliver has one year remaining on his current contract, and he will have his best team EVER next year. ISU may have the best team ever next year, but they WILL NOT be the team to beat next year. Unless they have some Mcdonald's ALL AMERICANS waiting on their bench. I have seen them play 2-3 times this year and their backcourt is just not that good.8poky8 wrote:Oliver has one year remaining on his current contract, and he will have his best team EVER next year. I hope you're correct as far as ISUs future; I've always cheered for them in every game unless is was against the Cats. Still kind of painful you were able to steal Brand Robinson, and now O'Neil! I guess there's many others out here that kind of like the Poky, Idaho Falls area...and I wish Cole well, but knowing the reasons for his decision to transfer, I for one wouldn't wish him and Daddy on any coaching staff.

listen...
We get our leading scorer back off an ACL, the BSC freshman of the year-to-be Logan Kinghorn who leads all FR scorers at 11 a game, Slim Millien who averages 12 a game, 6'6" WYO transfer Tim Henry, and 6'8" Kasey Winters who averages 18 pts. and 12 rebs. a game at Snow JC this year. If we land the JC PG that we are after, it will be a TWO team race, US, vs. MSU. Not even kidding, this will be the best team at ISU in probably 10 years...

There are a lot of team pointing towards next year. I have talked with folks from Eastern Washington and they really feel that this is a growing year and they will be very much improved and a contender next year. I think Montana who only loses Davis maybe much improved with out Davis and another year of Krysco installing his system. Of cource the Cats should also be the top returning team. I really feel NAU will be better, and Weber is always able to reload after a bad season. Will PSU drop, I do not think so. My point is that the Big Sky will be a much better conference from top to botton.

Contrary to what many of you believe, ISU will have a very good team next year. Seriously, think about what MSU has been able to accomplish in one short season. The BSC has sunken to new lows; meaning, any one team that can put together a good mix of JC transfers can reasonably compete for the championship.
I think people have taken note of how the cats have gone from nothing to serious BSC contenders.
Hope MSU shows the graiz how to play.

The Key to what the Cats have done this season is not recruiting a bunch of all-star JCbiobengal wrote:Contrary to what many of you believe, ISU will have a very good team next year. players, it is recruiting the right player and getting them to buy into the system and put
there ego's aside. Moss and Miller were fairly well recruited, but for Jefferson, Beye, and
Pratt, MSU was their only D-1 option (Beye actually had one other school recruiting
him). Recruiting experts were calling them marginal D-1 or a waste of a D-1 scholarship.
You just do not sign 5 JC players and have them contribute right away in a cohesive
manner. What Durham has done to get this team to where it is at is truly remarkable.
This is what a coach who has been at one institution for 15 years can only accomplish.
Remember when Kennedy @ Montana tried to sign a bunch of highly ranked JC's to turn
around the Griz, and he fell flat on his face. He had a bunch of basketball players all
trying to be a star.
My Point is do not sell short what Durham has done this year, and do not think that every
coach can accomplish what he has done.

You are right, Durham has done a great job with this team this year. He has pushed me back to his side of the fence after seeing what he accomplished this year. Now I just wish that he or one of the assistants would start hyping up the program around the state and rebuild the fire that was there back in the good old days. People are excited about basketball again, but it would be great to see more enthusiasm and hype from the coaching staff. Overall though, good work Mick!mslacat wrote: You just do not sign 5 JC players and have them contribute right away in a cohesive

Excuse me! On EFizzzz, their moderator corrected a poster and directed them to stay on topic? We, on the other hand, are capable of discussing many topics at one time. Seriously, glad the staff sent them packing. Kind of related: just read in the Gazette that the staff has asked Braxton Thelan of Billings Skyview to join the team as a preferred walkon. He's quoted: "I've liked MSU for a long time. I'm a big Cat fan. I've always wanted to play at this level." Any specific information available?

If our coaching staff did in fact tell Cole no, this makes little sense to me. While I agree that we do have some studs in the running back stable, I feel that competition at any position, and especially at running back is a very good thing. If nothing else, try to sign him to keep him away from other conference schools.
