law enforcement
came in late on the news and this seemed really foolish to me. i usually try to back law enforcement officers and policies but this irritated me, may be because I'm a parent. anyway in a nut shell here's what happened. young girl driving gets into fairly serious accident and totals her car. police and EMT's on the scene. her dad pulls up lagging a several miles behind her and sees the accident and his daughters totaled car, pulls over and jumps out running towards the EMT. Dad yells he's a doctor, cop says he has to stay away from the scene, they load up the girl. Dad again yells he's a doctor, pushes cop out of the way and runs towards his daughter and trys to jump into the back of the ambulence. Dad is arrested and charged with FELONY assault of a cop, and FELONY trespass for entering the ambulence to be with his daughter. I say horse ******! he's the dad, a doctor, and his child is hurt, he wasn't a threat. cops claim that they weren't calmly shown his medical ID and politley asked to check on his daughter so he belongs in jail. so I pose this question as i'm still not seeing what the hell he did wrong, should dad goto jail for what he did?

If the guy is a medical doctor trying to save a life, let alone the life of his daughter, the police have absolutely no place doing what they did. I think law enforcement does a fair enough job, but this is way over the line. I would think that any judge and jury in this country would find the father not guilty of assaulting a peace officer. I would hope that they find the police officers guilty of being jackasses.
GO CATS!

My name is Steve, if you'd like to know.

it was Tucker Carlson that was slamming the police, and the head of the department was standing behind the charges. The response from the chief was, "well we didn't know what kind of a doctor he was, and his girl was already seen by EMT's. we need to protect the integrity of the scene."
I agree the cops this time were jackasses

And if he hadn't been a doctor and had instead been a crazy person who did further harm to her, and they just let him on through, we would be hearing about how inept the police were as a result. It's a no-win situation for them, and they probably have procedures in place to try to remove the subjectivity that could well get them in trouble ... including getting ID to verify credentials before allowing anyone to treat a patient.
He should have shown his ID.
The charges do sound excessive, and will probably be reduced due to the his understandably emotional state, but in terms of procedure, I think the EMT and cops probably did the right thing.
