I really avoid the politics etc of the Middle East as I often feel it is a lost cause. However I do have a friend that grew up in Kuwait during the first Gulf War so his perspective has provided valuable insight to me. I don't really know what the likelyhood is of us invading Iran, but I am curious as to what you all think. Are we likely to see a US invasion of Iran?

I sure hope not. That just might turn into WWIII. The only people that would be happy about that would be the armegeddon hopefuls.

Like you, most of what I know comes from a former co-worker who moved from Iran to attend college here and never left. According to him, all of his family that still live there want the US to invade Iran when we are done with Iraq.

I just wonder what the chances are that they are enriching uranium for peacefull purposes.

It is very concerning to me as that is a can of worms we don't want to open in my opinion, but from my understanding until Iraq and Iran's people have more say in their lives the Middle East has no chance at peace.

My friend from Kuwait thinks George Herber Bush was the best president ever. Some of the stories of what the Iraq soldiers did to the people of Kuwait are gut-wrenching!

Actually BAC, the current President of Iran is of a sect of Islam that believes to instigate global warfare is to usher in a 10 member leadership corp who will rule in peace according to the teachings of the Koran.

Those teachings are not orthodox Islam, but he holds to a radicalized belief system that doesn't allow for much alternative other than warfare. He is acting like he wants Israel to attack, my guess is whether you or I want it, he's going to get it.

No better time than the present, I say. Once they have a nuke, they won't hesitate to use it, in my opinion.

I don't think there is enough political will in the US, let alone Europe and Russia, to invade. The first move will have to be Iran's. The good news is that we should not have wait too long for them to be that stupid.

BAC - WWIII? It may be unconventional, but the world is already at war. And, in every sense of the word, fighting with al qaeda and other terror groups is pretty much a global war. There just aren't any battle lines.

Folks - I recommend spending some of your internet research time on learning about the last 15-20 years in many African nations. The stories out of the Congo, Zimbabwae, S. Africa, Ivory Coast, Somalia, Chad, etc., etc., are beyond belief.

If there were a WWIII it would be a Muslims vs. Non-Muslims. There are some certain groups itching for this show down- starting with Israel.

Yep, that's what I'm worried about. We don't need no stinkin' holy war, and that's exactly what I fear could happen.
