Numbers for campuses don't come out until after the 15th class day. Probably won't hear on anyone's enrollment until the week of the 19th.

Do not be surprised when the U of missoula comes in below 8k. A walk through the campus will tell you how bad things are getting. Buildings and grounds in disrepair, rank and file employee morale is at an all time low, and the administration and executive branch just continue on with blinders as if nothing is wrong.
What matters is Monty and a winning football team which is the #1 priority at this point.

Yup. I think leadership is hoping Bobby gets them back to RTD, making it back to Friso (to lose) a couple times nd that will help bring students back. That will absolutely help, but their problem is, MSU has all the momentum and the path is set (Thanks to Waded). MSU is THE #1 university in the state and I don't know if that will ever change now.

You must be referring to all the construction projects underway. New dining hall, renovations to two on campus dorms, physical plant modernization and construction of the new museum building. Off campus student housing renovations and the indoor practice are to follow in 2023.

None of the projects you named are actually projects of growth. The new dining hall is replacing the food zoo. Renovations and modernization are normal components of maintenance. Now, the new museum building makes sense, as I imagine it'll show current students the way things were back in the good old days ;)

Does MSU publish the 4-year graduation rate? You know, the time period that degrees are designed to be completed in?

The 6-year rate reporting requirement feels like it's connected to the student loan issue and the larger Schooling Industrial Complex problem. I believe MSU's 56% rate is actually considered pretty good, which is a reflection on the larger industry. What good is the land grant program (just about anyone with a pulse is admitted) if they don't finish? All they leave with is debt and probably some good party stories. I wish the MSU/MUS leadership would work to push more freshmen into Gallatin College instead of regular MSU just so the kids could get their feet under them and their heads on straight but unfortunately that's not the business plan. Gallatin is growing but that's likely organic growth, not pulling away from traditional undergrad enrollment.

It is lipstick on a pig. None of it changes the abysmal staff morale, attendance decline, and overall campus decay.

UM Enrollment Article

https://missoulian.com/news/local/unive ... -top-story
Does this article make their enrollment figures sound a little fishy? They include online and dual credit enrollment with high schools in the total enrollment numbers? Is that done at MSU?

And the incoming class at UM was 1,300 while MSU is around 3,700…. Wow!

I loved where Bodnar said they were definitely on a growth path despite being down 1.5%. If my investments were on that same growth path I think I’d be seeking a new business school.

I believe MSU's incoming freshman classes have been approximately triple UM's for 4-5 years in a row now. And yet, they continue to bill themselves as "the flagship". More like a sinking ship, it seems like to me.

But they grew by 20 students on Campus.

"Despite the overall drop in enrollment, there are 8,094 students enrolled at the main campus — slightly more than last fall’s 8,074."
