Benefis, Bozeman Health, Kalispell, St Pete's are still all 90+% full.
Benefis, Billings Clinic, St Pete's, Missoula Community are all basically at capacity for ICU beds.
It's trending the right way, but still a ways to go.
With OSHA's issued emergency temporary standard requiring vaccination or testing we should see a dramatic decline in larger cities. Small cities probably won't see much change since there won't be too many business effected.

Bozeman Health, St. Peters, Benefis, St. Patrick's (Missoula) and Missoula Community are all pretty much at/over capacity for ICU beds.

Hopefully the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday doesn't result in too big of a spike in cases once we hit early December. Personally I know quite a few people who've ended up with COVID in the last two months or so. Fortunately all but one are vaccinated and none had severe symptoms. Vaccination rates are still way too low for this thing to be going away anytime soon.

I believe he was saying he knew several people who had been vaccinated, but had contracted Covid, presumably via contact with people who weren't vaccinated.

Sorry I fixed the bolded comment above. I definitely see where he knows multiple people that contracted covid and all but one were vaccinated (and still got the virus). It doesn't say anywhere that the people got it from an unvaccinated person.

That comment doesn't make sense to me considering fully vaccinated people are still contracting and spreading covid. Covid is also mutating at what seems like a very rapid rate (I'm not a doctor or a scientist, just my perception) which means the vaccines will continue to be less and less effective against new mutations - they will absolutely still help, but will be less effective from what i understand. Anyway, the point is that covid isn't going away. We could vaccinate every person in the world and covid wouldn't go away, I firmly believe it would be less than what it is now however.

Yeah, you're probably right. However, we'll never find out because we'll never vaccinate everyone in the world. Polio actually still exists. In Pakistan and Afghanistan it is still classified as endemic and if you travel there and haven't been vaccinated you can still get it.

Yeah, I worded that poorly and fully realize that Covid isn't ever going to be completely eradicated. The end goal here should be to turn Covid into an endemic disease that circulates at low levels through a vaccinated population but causes severe illness and death at very low rates comparative to what they are now - rates which hopefully will continue to decrease as we improve our ability to treat Covid once vulnerable people have contracted it. The latest CDC data I saw shows a 5x increase in number of infections and a 13x increase in number of deaths for unvaccinated people vs. vaccinated ones, which suggests that the spread of the virus through vaccinated segments of the population is largely due to interactions with unvaccinated people who are spreading the virus around much more efficiently amongst themselves.

Therapeutics are the best way forward. A year ago I thought it was the vaccinations. I still think people should get them. But they just aren’t as effective as we all had hoped. Hopefully treatments get really good in the near future.

You're probably right. The new variants seem to be happening faster than the vaccines could ever keep up with. We'll always be at least 4-6 months behind with updated vaccines.

Therapeutics are the best way forward. A year ago I thought it was the vaccinations. I still think people should get them. But they just aren’t as effective as we all had hoped. Hopefully treatments get really good in the near future.

I saw an interesting news segment that the new variant is very mild but also spreads very easily. The doctor felt that this variant could actually lead to herd immunity around the world. No idea if true, but an interesting theory.

Yep. Generally I think that is exactly why viruses mutate, so they can spread more easily to more hosts... which is easier when the effects of the virus are less severe, or something of that nature.

Big jump in deaths. Also an increase in active cases and hospitalizations...both numbers that had been steadily declining.
Also, according to Monday's hospital report. It looks like the state has/had 458 patients hospitalized. 121 of those in ICU, 76 on Ventilators. Benefis (great falls), St. Peter's (helena), and Kalispell Regional are all at or over bed capacity.
Bozeman Health, St. Peters, Benefis, St. Patrick's (Missoula) and Missoula Community are all pretty much at/over capacity for ICU beds.

Downward trends everywhere.
Benefis, Kalispell, St. Peters, St. Vincent are all still 90+%, with St. Peter's in Helena being at 100% capacity. In terms of ICU beds, Missoula Community and Billings Clinic are still at 100% capacity.
The deaths went up pretty substantially, but it sounds like that was based on reporting and a good bit of those were from back in september/october.

Looks as if the two cases of the omicron, or whatever it is, were both from fully vaxxed.
To get to the omicron variant name they passed over the previous greek letter xi... Hmmmmm.

There are WAAAY more than two cases of omicron out there, and I think everyone knows that it’s possible for both vaccinated and unvaccinated to become infected. Hopefully the cases are less severe than the delta variant. If not, hopefully, like Delta, vaccines will be effective in preventing hospitalizations and death.
As for the naming Nu was also skipped.
