Trip to and around Plains

Wondering the best route. Will probably do a day trip on Sunday after Church. Looks like going east there are two routes. The one may be turning at St Regis and then circling over to Thompson Falls and back to 90 and then home. Any particulars to look for. We like St Regis and the store at the intersection. Will be checking out RV Parks/Campgrounds.
One day when we have more time we want to do the full circle around to Ponderay/Sandpoint and home. Ponderay an Sandpoint have a couple of breweries. Mick Duffs is pretty good. The one in Ponderay was closed in April when we spent the weekend near there...
