New TV Recommendations

Post by TIrwin24 » Mon Jan 18, 2016 10:13 am

Happy Monday guys,

Looking to upgrade the TV experience in the household and I'm looking for input on what you guys have experienced.

The only constraint that it has to be 45" or less due to an enclosure.

What say you?

We are really partial to LG or Samsung. With the prices as we have seen them the OLED and even curved sets are reasonable.

New TV Recommendations

Post by Bobcat4Ever » Mon Jan 18, 2016 12:50 pm

I only thought I had a TV until we got a Sony Bravia with Wifi. Just something about everything -- color depth, sharpness, controls, features, sound -- we love it. Works great with wireless for Netflix, and plugging in an iPad for Watch Big Sky or ESPN3. Could not find the particular one in size we needed in town so ordered it directly from Sony. Same price everywhere we searched. Never been sorry. Good luck hunting!

I will recommend Samsung. Anything in their 6 series and above.

I don't mind Sony either.

Yep, Samsung, Sony and LG all make very good products. Incredible how inexpensive they have become, too.

I have an LG ultra high def that I like a lot.

When I purchased it, I looked into the curved screen (Samsung, not LG). I think a curved screen is more of a gimmick than anything because you'll get some glare on the edges. There's no boost in image quality with a curved screen.

I did wind up going with ultra high def. If you watch a lot of movies, then it's great. The detail is so sharp you can see blemishes on actors' faces. But the TV signal is not yet UHD, so you won't see any bump in quality through your provider.

I have four HDMI ports and it's getting to the point with peripheral devices where even four is not enough. I'm currently using three. If you get less than four, you'll probably regret it.

The curve is cool if you're sitting a bit closer. It's a more immersive experience.

Power supplies are 99.9% bullet proof and they have better up scaling......even if the technology is stolen.

Side by side nothing in the consumer market looks better than Samsung, not even Sony

This.
Also, doesn't Samsung still makes the displays for the iPad?

I have had a Samsung for 3 years and I would never get anything else at the moment.
