Not sure if many of you saw House Hunters last night but I was pretty disappointed in it. It was about a couple from Sheridan WY, who was selling their ranch there to move to "hip" Bozeman. Of course their budget was a measly $1M. The realtor had a fancy Land Rover and she showed them a property where "you could see Ted Turner's ranch". Spare me!! And what is a story about Montana without the typical "they had a bear on their porch" story.

It will probably expose more (rich) people to that area, and thus inflate prices.

The only good thing was MSU got some good exposure.

The article in the paper (on Sunday) said that only the house they bought was one they even looked at. The other two they showed were sold or on consignment so when they came to film she just showed them 2 other houses. Apparently the show really only uses the house purchased and then films whatever else they want to showcase (from the article).

I found it entertaining. I wouldn't say they did much in the way of capturing the essence of Bozeman, though. But for people looking to get the worst possible deal on a house in the Bozeman area, they really came through.

Was it just me, or was the house they bought about the most surreal looking thing ever? It was kind of cool on a certain level, but having a brand new house that looks old out in the middle of nowhere with no trees or landscaping anywhere really made it seem like a fake house from a movie set. It reminded me of something from Northfork.

We didn't see it but this is the third time I've heard that the people have already bought a house and they just film two other random. I've contacted House Hunters about a move (twice) and we've not heard a word back, maybe it's because we don't have a place yet? I'm still confused how they do the leaving segment if people have already gotten their new place. At least in our case once we go we won't be back to Fargo!!

They may just get permission from the subsequent owners to go back to the place they used to live and film the segment as though they are still there.

That approach all makes sense from the production perspective -- it's certainly a lot cheaper if you can shoot the whole show in one short timeframe. In this case, they could probably just have the same film crew shoot their stuff in Sheridan, and then drive straight to Bozeman to film all the rest of it over a couple days.

I have long assumed that ALL reality shows are staged to a large degree, so I actually end up spending time thinking about "How did they go about producing this?" more than focusing on the actual "plot" in many cases.

I just caught the last minute of the show and was really disappointed that I had missed it.....Now I realize I really did not miss anything.....

More rich people moving to bozeman and ruining the cost of living for the rest of us. Fantastic.

I also thought the house looked fake/weird.

They had to move everything out of their house to film, so it would be empty.

It does make sense and doesn't personally ruin the show for me because I still like to see the different places (we watch mainly the International) but I've been watching it with a different eye since I heard that. That might mean it won't work out for us, but makes more sense why we haven't heard back yet!
