Vegas suggestions

Found out I'm going to be in Vegas for 5 days in November for a conference and am looking for suggestions on things to see & do. We'll be at the Red Rock Resort, which I know is off the strip. I've been down there twice before, and have done the whole strip and downtown thing. I'm going with a couple others who've never been there before, so we'll have to do the normal walking and gawking, but any suggestions on things out of the ordinary to see/do? I don't think anyone is a huge gambler either.

Bring some walking / hiking shoes and go to Red Rocks west of town. Just get on Sahara, keep going, and it takes you right there. Hoover Dam is cool, but they've scaled back the tour since 9/11.

I would recommend going west on Charleston Blvd., not Sahara Ave. The Red Rock Resort is on Charleston, so you're only a few minutes away from Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, which is also on Charleston Blvd.

If you've got a car, there's a neat restaurant at Mt. Charleston Lodge, about 45 minutes NW of the city. Very pretty drive as you'll go from desert scrub at 2500 feet to pine forest at 7700 feet in about 40 miles -- 20 as the crow flies from Red Rock. Closest thing to Montana in this god-forsaken desert, short of driving to Flagstaff or Cedar City.
