Frank Brown Vs. Debra LaFave

Has anyone seen the story of the Florida Middle school teacher, Debra LaFave, that is charged with banging one of her 14 yr old male students. I saw it on Inside Edition then looked it up a little on the net. She was a popular teacher, a.k.a. the smokin' hot teacher. She looked like she should have been able to snag any number of legal aged guys. I think it will be interesting to see how their punishments compare.

Both, Brown and LaFave, knew their partners (I hesitate to use the word victim). Both were in positions to be looked up to, College Athlete and Teacher. Both are young adults, Frank 20, Debra 24..I think. One reportedly used alcohol (possibly as a weapon), Frank. Both will be very public ordeals.
Both have loosely similar predicessors sp?, Kobe trial and Mary Kate LeTorneau.

Race may have an impact on the different outcomes. Frank's case Black male adult w/ white teen girl, Debra's case, White female adult w/ black teen boy. Gender may have an impact, male adult vs. female adult.

I don't think this thread belongs on the athletics page. I kind of want it to be more of a sociological look at the United States. I'd like to know peoples thoughts of the situations and possible outcomes, not character evaluations of the individuals involved.

I think the topic of relations between adults and sexually mature teenagers is worth discussing. I think this is a totally different animal than sexual predators, pederasses, or kiddie porn. There is definitely an emotional maturity factor in these types of interactions. I think we all knew the girls in high school that were "dating" guys in their early twenties.

I was just wondering what others thought.
