Post by SACCAT » Fri May 05, 2006 7:41 am

In todays paper it said they didn't have the money to send the team down to Texas. What is going on with that?

Probably not enough interest in that brand of whatever they do.

Another one bites the dust.

Rapid City team likely to fold
By Gazette News Services

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- The Rapid City Flying Aces are undefeated, but it appears they have played their last game in the National Indoor Football League.

The team, which has a perfect 6-0 record, is expected to announced today that they are ceasing operations.

Team owner Howard Neal left town last week amid reports that the team was in excess of $50,000 in debt. The team's players and staff have reportedly not been paid for two weeks.

Flying Aces coach Dan Maciejczak, who coached the Billings Outlaws in 2004, was unsuccessful in his attempts this week to find local investors to keep the team running for the remainder of the season. The Billings Outlaws were scheduled to play Rapid City on May 27 and June 17. Those dates will likely become bye weeks on Billings' schedule.

I read that as well. Very sad to see.

All I can say is get out to the Ice Garden and support them next weekend. I know everyone on this board loves football, and while the team isn't very good, it was just plain fun to watch. Nothing better to get you through till next football season than sitting around watching fast paced football while drinking a beer!

These guys need your support, get out there, trust me you will enjoy it!

We should set up a BN party or something at one of the games. A chance for everyone to get together and watch a game.

Damn, sounds like fun, but I'll be in Chicago watching a 'Cubs/Padres' game with my younger son. :D

If they last that long, which I hope they do, they have home games every weekend (after tommorrow) in May and every weekend in June except for the 17th. I too am gone the next weekend, but will be at all the rest.
