Our first President is a Library criminal. Thank goodness we finally caught up with him.

This story would be much cooler if Mt. Vernon still had the actual copy of the book that Washington checked out, instead of replacing it with another copy.

"The missing book came to light when the New York Society Library was restoring its 1789-1792 charging ledger, which features the borrowing history of Washington, John Adams, John Jay, Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, George Clinton, and others."

Lesson here is DON'T keep your library books past the due date...or this is what happens:

(Yes, I know they're speaking about a different George Clinton...)

When I was reading through that list of names, I was picturing each individual in my mind, and I have to admit, that was the first image that popped into my mind when I read the name George Clinton.

And if he was elected President instead of Washington, instead of a Congress we'd have a Parliament......................Funkadelic.
