Conspiracies & Lies

Post by The Butcher » Fri Jan 29, 2021 10:43 am

Since the Trump Administration there have been several lies and conspiracy theories spread by elected officials. These have ranged from inauguration crowd size to election fraud. Many people just laughed the more mundane ones off (raking forests is not a strategy utilized in Finland in their fire mitigation and injecting bleach is a bad idea), but others have been much more serious like claiming voter fraud with zero evidence (resulted in an attack on the Capitol on January 6th). Unfortunately we are now seeing more and more of this from the GOP. Recently one of the more outlandish theories has come from Congresswoman Greene who implicated “Rothschild Inc.” in connection with a deadly forest fire that, she wrote, was started using laser beams from space. This is the same Congresswoman that has been peddling a false conspiracy theory that the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary was a hoax and endorsed executing top Democrats including Pelosi. At what point is a bridge to far for the GOP? Or has conspiracies and lies become the new norm? Inaction is acceptance, and this is proving to be dangerous to our democracy.

Greene appears to be becoming a leader in the party. Some pols think she's the future of the party. Current GOP elected officials are still scared of Trump and family. Can't say anything bad about him or disagree with him or it's the end of their political careers. Definitely can't vote to impeach him, but I think they want to. Many millions of people still think Trump had the election stolen away from him, so until they figure out that's not the case and that Trump was nothing more than a charlatan, we're in for a rough ride.

The future of the GOP looks pretty scary down the line. Here is the Governor of South Dakota who is making a play for national predominance. Quick breakdown of her questionable leadership in the past 6 months:
1. She still doesn't know what is going on with the State's AG who killed a man with his car this fall
https://www.kotatv.com/2021/01/21/noem- ... stigation/
2. She is trying to overthrow a legally passed ballot initiative from November (Noem has stated citizens should make their own decisions about mask wearing but not voting?)
https://rapidcityjournal.com/news/local ... 8de61.html
3. She will not disclose how much State money she spent campaigning for Trump and Senator Loeffler even though she campaigned on “transparency” (a text message went out with the sponsor of the bill’s phone number after Noem told her to drop the bill that requires the release of the costs…)
https://apnews.com/article/constitution ... d1f58ab53f

So she is a pretty good representation of the GOP operates right now.

A breakdown of Noem's leadership during the pandemic.

Yes, something has always seemed fishy about the nursing home story in NY. Will be an interesting one to follow.

Another great day for today's GOP.

GOP Rep. Boebert is blaming the Green New Deal for power outages across the country (someone should let her know that the Green New Deal hasn't passed Congress) and GOP Senator Ron Johnson said there wasn't an armed insurrection on January 6th (despite video footage and police reports).

The GOP is getting bolder and bolder about their lies!

***EDIT- This is a good fact check on the newest lie being parroted by the GOP on renewable energy (nothing like taking a natural disaster to spread propaganda):

Update on Governor Noem. Over the past year she has been considered an up and coming GOP member. She has been identified as a potential presidential candidate in 2024. As I have mentioned; she has been followed by controversies during her first 2 years as South Dakota governor. The most recent issue is her use of the State plane. According to flight logs, there are suspicions that she is using the plane illegally (the previous governor used the plane to go to his son’s HS basketball games around the State prompting the State Legislature to make it illegal to do so- he is of course a Senator for SD now).

Additionally, the Democrat minority leader asked the Attorney General to investigate. This is the same AG that committed that hit and run that killed a man. There is STILL no information about the case. The AG has not commented on the request, leaving people to believe he will not investigate the matter. Lies and unethical actions are in “plane” sight among GOP members in SD…

You seem to really hate your leadership in SD. Why don’t you move to someplace else, like maybe CA or Oregon? They might better align with your political beliefs.

Are you suggesting that these actions are acceptable?
Are you implying that ethical and legal actions by a politician are expectations only found in California and Oregon?
I find this post odd.

You criticize people for partisan politics but you are easily the biggest offender. If this person was a Democrat, we wouldn’t hear a peep out of you.

My suggestion is since you don’t like the leadership in SD, why do you stay there? All you do is bitch about them. If it means that much to you, why don’t you move to where the political climate is more in line with your thinking? You seem to be more aligned with California or Oregon.

Got it! You are okay with illegal and unethical actions by GOP leadership.

Side note: South Dakota Attorney General will be charged with three second-class misdemeanors
Operating a vehicle while using a mobile or electronic device
Lane driving violation for driving outside of his lane
Careless driving

All are Class 2 misdemeanors, punishable by up to 30 days in the county jail, a $500 fine or both.

It took 5 months to come up with these charges...

I didn’t say that all, so please don’t put words in mouth. I am just observing that you really don’t like the leadership in SD. It is a regular theme with your posts. Why don’t you move to someplace where your ideals are more aligned with the leadership?

I have a job and home here... I don't have the luxury to up and move. Apparently you have that ability while the majority of Americans do not.

Wow. Senator Johnson is throwing out conspiracies at a senate hearing. What is going on with the GOP these days?

He'll act like he's just telling everyone what he read. A faux 'don't blame the messenger' moment. He's not saying it, it's just something he's read and thinks it should be looked into. And, that, is part of what the GOP is these days.

Much of the Dems “evidence” in the last impeachment trial was second hand information from news articles. You two are ridiculous. And the generalization by you two that all GGOP are bad is awful.

I specifically stated "...is part of what the GOP is ..." Stop projecting while you're reading, it'll help your comprehension a lot.

When numerous legitimate news sources come out with the same story, then it can be vetted and used as circumstantial evidence. When the only "news" sources you have are Newsmax, Fox, OAN, etc., you've already lost your case. All these outlets are either being sued or were threatened with a lawsuit. When you have to go on air, live, and apologize for lying about voting machines you lose any credibility you ever had. If you use any of these places as a source of info, you lose credibility.

Johnson is a complete fake and fraud. He's only doing this as a means to hold onto the votes he's expecting to get. Republicans lost Wisconsin in a big way and Johnson knows if he doesn't pull B.S. like this, he's toast.
