Numbers steadily improving, nationally. I think this cold snap will help Montana since people are less likely to leave home. Hopefully.

South Dakota's governor making national news with the blatant disregard of public health once again...

Where did you see that? I have that date down for 3,668 per Worldometers.com. Actually I see it now on one of the other sites. I'm guessing that might've been reconciliation(?) count (deaths that were previously missed and not attributed to other dates). Montana had one of those last week. The death count was something like 54, but it turned out to be a reconciliation.

Weird! Yeah I just google it and use the google analytics or whatever pops up, I always figured it was accurate.

Reconciliation is so weird, would it be adding people that passed and were given a Covid test after? Or the Covid test came back positive after they had passed (that 2-3 testing lapse)?

I’d say the lows are a bit lower but the high days are still way to high for comfort or for me to say it’s decreasing substantially. Really hope for some relief soon for everyone.

True, it's too high still, but great to see it trending downward. That coupled with vaccinations rates increasing are promising. It can never come down fast enough though.

Another governor is in the hot seat after misrepresenting COIVD numbers. This time it is out of Florida.

Let’s hope the trend continues, but that is still a ton of death per day.

It is a ton. But it probably can’t be stopped much more rapidly than it is. Cases are continuing to drop as well, which is a strong indicator that the trend will continue.

I wonder how much the Vaccine, 3-4 month “immunity” after getting Covid, and the already substantial death toll in at risk categories are impacting the case totals? Probably an impossible question unless your the CDC or something

I think the overall number of COVID deaths when reviewed in the future will see a dramatic spike. USA life expectancy dropped one full year due to the pandemic. Minorities were hit the hardest as black people dropped 2.7 years and 1.9 for Hispanic people.

February 11 - 3,068
February 18 - 2,761
February 25 - 2,414

Coming down, but not as fast. I think the reason for the big drops last week was the big cold snap around a lot of the country, so that might've been misleadingly encouraging. Hopefully the 2,000+ days are close to being over though.

I started this list in November and before that there were only 19 days over 2,000. Since I started, there have been 62 additional days over 2,000.
