SoDak now 8th, NoDak now 4th per capita. Montana 29th. In terms of cases SD and ND are 1st and 2nd. Montana 10th. In terms of testing Montana is 22nd, ND 40th, SD 47th.
A friend of mine here in SD has been in the ICU for 10 days (also on a ventilator). She is 78 years old, so some people would write her off because of her age. A work colleague is on oxygen at his house. The hospital is delivering medical equipment because if he gets worse they are unsure there will be a bed for him. He is 67 with pre-existing health conditions, so some people would write him off too. Pretty tough in SD right now...
I found out this evening that my friend passed away tonight of COVID. The first person I knew very well to pass from the virus.

Interesting article from a Harvard prof that estimates years of life lost in USA due to covid. Comes to 13.25 per person.

So “Operation warp speed” is another F*****G Trump lie?
Trump doesn’t care about American lives, but his supporters will storm the Capitol for him?
I wish I could say “how can Trump sleep at night” but he doesn’t care so he sleeps just fine.

It isn’t that he doesn’t care about American lives, or overrun hospitals or sick people. He just cares about other things more. Millions of Americans feel that way. There’s a threshold that has to be crossed and we haven’t hit that for Trump and many others.

24 of top 26 days are after Thanksgiving (Holiday season). If that's (Holidays) the cause, then I would think things would start tapering off pretty soon. But it could just be that so many people are congregating indoors. Or something else.

2. 4,134 - January 7
3. 4,100 - January 6
4. 3,914 - January 8
