So the story says: riots, vandalism, fires then say the protest lasted four hours. So riots, vandalism, fires don't sound like protests. Not how some of us look at protests.

Really not sure why anyone is talking about negotiations. It is way past negotiations

This is an unadulterated mess. On one hand you have these "protesters" going off and no one, that I know of, has even attempted to negotiate with them or they're refusing to be negotiated with. On the other you have the President of the USA bragging about gassing the mayor of Portland. I don't see this ending well. Something horrendous is going to happen.
No question this is a mess. But you seem to be taking Trumps comments regarding the mayor out of context. I don’t think he was bragging about gassing the mayor, but he was calling the mayor a fool for trying to join the protestors.

I really don’t understand how people can blame Trump for the mess in Portland. Should he have just let the Federal building get burned down? Should he turn a cheek while thousands of Portland residents and business are destroyed?

The heavy hand of the Left originally funded by deep Leftist pockets George Soros - and the rank and file Leftist believe that the heavy hand will not apply to them? Since Antifa and BLM have started their terrorist course of destruction, does anyone really think they care about what ideaolgy anyone in their path of destruction supports?

Socialism - the financial model historically used to control the masses! It has noting to do with
freedom, and seriously erodes the primary constitutional freedom of free enterprise.

Meanwhile in Louisiana the state supreme court is adding to the list of reasons to protest and be incredibly frustrated with the "system." A good way to combat the protesters would be to have "everyone" stand up to things like this.

Aftermath of BLM strategic positioning in Chicago. I spy a pizza place, a burger join, and a Best Buy! Food and iphones, what more does sustained rioting need? I also see an UlTA store that got looted. That doesn't make sense as it's a beauty supply store and not sure lefty womyn need any of that.
