Timely read

Post by allcat » Tue Feb 12, 2019 8:56 am

I'm reading Atlas Shrugged. Just as Jules Verne foresaw many inventions Ayn Rand really foresaw many things. When you read it you have to keep reminding yourself that she was a socialist.

While Rand had an up close and personal view of socialism and defected from the USSR to the US, she could hardly be called a socialist. She had some twisted views on the purpose of life. Check some of her interviews and lectures on youtube and I would consider her manner of living a failure as she was a bitter and sad figure during her latter years. Capitalism without altruism reveals in her manner as a failed philosophy.

Ok, I stand corrected on her philosophy. Have you read the book?

Yes. I have read the book. Prepare yourself for the sermon of a lifetime as the ending puts Stephen King's diarrhea of the typewriter to shame.

She certainly is long winded. It's the philosophy stuff that seems so prophetic.

She makes a great point. It just takes her A VERY LONG TIME to get there. I wish I could remember the name of the English course I took in college where one is taught to use few words to explain a long detailed subject... Ayn Rand would have failed that course.
