Good, bad, necessary????

Since the argument has turned away from Cap & Trade I'm going to add a poll.

And definitely not necessary.

Why isn't it necessary?

Why is it?

You answer first, then you will get a response.

Yeah, hell. Why would anyone want to limit the amount of $hit, poison and carcinogens that are pumped into our air?? That's just crazy talk......

Survival of the human species is the other teams' idea. I want no part of it.

Precisely, TG. The politicization of every freakin' concept in Washington has gotten so out of hand that even the survival of our planet is a $hitty idea if it's perceived to have come from the "other side of the aisle".

Why should a business be charged a fee or pay taxes for putting a natural fertilizer (co2) into the air that is beneficial to plant grow? This is nothing more than a tax so big government can grow even bigger, and the result will be to move more jobs to China and Asia. We are heading into a global cool down, and if CO2 is a global warming gas( which I do not believe as the facts show otherwise) I would rather have a warmer climate than a cooler climate.

Bad idea. Another example of Liberal/Big Government out of control and trying to payoff their supporters

If not having to drink salt with my water is a "liberal/big-government"idea then sign me up. If the Himalayan glaciers get a few more years to mirror us from ultraviolent rays so our faces don't literally melt then I'll party with Michael Moore. If investing in cleaner forms of energy helps to stop lining the pockets of my sworn enemy and keeps me from having to pick tarballs of my body when I'm done surfing then I guess I'm a liberal.

If you get Asia and China to quit polluting 300 fold more than the US then and only then am I on board with "capping trade".

Even if I can't get "Asia's" leader....as well as China's (because China isn't a part of "Asia") to take the first step.....

I must have gone to a really crappy school because I was taught that China is part of Asia

I'm not opposed to trying to reduce emissions but there are several aspects of this bill that I'm opposed to. 1) It's been budgeted into the budget as a $$ maker. 2) prices of everything are going to rise, this is going to make the gas prices last year seem like nothing. 3) The pollutants that developing countries pump out overshadow what our already regulated countries produce.

The "we'll-stop-doing-it-if-Asia-(or-Asia-and-China-depending-on-whom-you-ask)-argument" is weak at best. America has ALWAYS led in issues like these. I would like to think that we're still a nation of values who leads internationally when it comes to issues that matter, issues other than consumption.

But I dunno. Perhaps people are just too busy these days to put down their Big Mac and tear themselves away from their PS2 in order to care about restoring America's leadership position in the world.

Psssst, we are still the leaders, but not when it comes to things like polluting the environment.

FYI

But I dunno, maybe people are just fine with our economy the way it is and our American companies taking their business out of the country because of OVER regulation and high tax rates.
