Post by TomCat88 » Fri Nov 24, 2023 8:49 am

MSU went into BSC tournament as the #3 seed and will play #4 seed Weber in the title match. Weber beat #1 SAC, MSU beat #7 EWU to reach final.

This is a very big deal, MSU's first ever appearance in the Big Sky Championship match (the conference was called the Mountain West in 1983 the last time they were there). 7 PM, Go Cats!

Can't wait for tonight! Last night was epic. This should be a really competitive match with every point contended. Could easily get to 5 sets.

Go Bobcats!

So what kind of history does the Big Sky have in the NCAA tournament?

Looks like Sac St beat Minnesota in 2007 in a match that listed in the top 10 biggest upsets in tournament history. That SAC team was a dominant in the BSC and had won 6 straight conference titles.

Last year UNC actually took a set off a 2 seed. That's pretty dang good for the BSC.

That could cost them. Did we use timeouts.

Cats lose 5th set 13-15. Losing the 2nd set was a gift to Weber.

Darn. Thought they had it. I'm afraid a chance like that might not come around again for a while.

Cats had 5 point leads in nearly every set and lost 3. Tough one to swallow.

Couldn't close the deal. Just needed one good hit in 3 games.

Tough loss for the Cats as they had the game in hand and went down by 3 points. Great job girls but bittersweet to be so close.

So very proud of those ladies for how far they've come this year!
Congratulations to coach Houk and his assistants in their awesome first year!
My heart aches for the whole team especially the seniors who have endured much in their careers at MSU.
