I think MSU held the record with 72 wins from 1929 to 1991. Kentucky broke the NCAA record with 73. NAIA Oklahoma City had 73 in 1990-91 and 1991-92.

I think UCONN women have this from the reign of terror from 2013-2021. . .. I think they had 40 wins in 13/14 and 38 in 14/15 to have 78 in a two year stretch, but then had another 38 in 15/16.

Really an incredible run, probably boosted by the current number of teams in the tournament compared to historical teams, but still an incredible run.

Is this supposed to be 1929-31 or 1989-1991?

I think the record of 72 wins was the back to back seasons from 27/28 to 28/29, and then it was unbroken until 1991.
