Is there a reason for this? or is this pretty typical? Sorry just have never heard that term used and thanks for the info!

Not sure the terminology, but yes, it is very common. Some coaches actually get paid bonuses for these games (One Big Sky coach get's all the money from these games after the 1st one... From what I hear). It's just like Power 5 football schools paying to come play there, or MSU paying smaller Football schools to play here.

MSU got paid something similar when they played UNLV back during Covid and got the win too. That was sweet.

It's an interesting thing to keep an eye on every year. For the last 3 years it was hard to find anyone wanting to schedule Montana State, and pay them to come to their place, because we had been to the NCAA Tourney 3 years in a Row. That is also why it is so hard to get teams to come to MSU for both Men's and Women's.

The Stanford game should be fun, the women played them a few years ago in the tournament but I don't recall the men's team ever playing them in the past.

Unknown dates….

@ Utah State

@ Oregon State

(Buy games are now Colorado, Stanford, Utah State, Boise State, and Oregon State)

Looks like the schedule is in the West this year, as opposed to last Nov/Dec where we were out in the Midwest with Wichita State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, etc

I quite like this set of games, all will be very tough but the Bobcats should be able to compete with these teams if they play well. Now let's hopefully hear about a few home games to go along with all these away games!

The Big Sky/Summit League Challenge matchups were released today, the MSU men host St. Thomas on Wednesday 12/3 and then play at Oral Roberts on Saturday 12/6. The MSU women play at NDSU on 12/3 and host North Dakota on 12/6.

St Thomas was 24 - 10 last season and took 2nd in the Summit. This looks to be a tough game.

Oral Roberts was 7 -23 last season and was last (9th) in Summit. This is a winnable game.

Denver was 11 - 21 last season and was 7th in the Summit. Denver also has a new HC this next season and a large roster turnover. This is a winnable game

How many players transferred in and out? If it’s as many as the average mid major, then those records from last year aren’t worth all that much.
