MSU Women's Basketball Banquet
Thursday, May 8, 5:30 PM, Riverside Country Club in Bozeman. Let's make a good showing especially to pay tribute to Katelynn Martin and Taylor Janssen who ignored the portal and committed their entire college careers to the Bobcat cause.

Can anyone show up?
Also will all players be there? Say can we wail and cry and say "why Natalie why?"?

Actually it is for Fastbreak members who contribute at least at the $500 level.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think parents and friends can attend as well.

Parents/family yes. Not sure if some friend tickets given but I suppose if a player requests some they may be accommodated. Rainey would clarify that. But point is that invite is not wide open to everyone.

It took me a second. I was like why would Shaun Rainey know about this? Then i realized which Rainey you're talking about. Let's call her Good Rainey and the MT sports director Bad RaineyBobcatDel wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:33 pmParents/family yes. Re: MSU Women's Basketball Banquet
This team will always be an incredibly special one, I've been closely following women's basketball since 1993 when they won their first Big Sky Championship and this year was easily the most fun I've had watching them play. They aren't just great basketball players but also clearly great people all the way around. ESPN+ helps a lot for us fans who don''t live in Bozeman with the awesome TV coverage provided by Ian and the whole broadcast team for home games, as well as from the folks at all the other Big Sky schools when MSU is on the road. Congrats to everyone involved with the team, can't wait to see what next year holds!

Re: MSU Women's Basketball Banquet
I heard that they didn't allow the girls who were transferring to attend and that kinda bugs me a little as they were part of this team. We should be proud that we can get girls to bigger programs. I even think Picton should have been invited with open arms. If she wasn't there who knows she was a vital part of this team. They should have atleast had the opportunity to go if they wanted, but not allowing them doesn't sit well with me. Anyway just my two cents.

I agree. And it's unfortunate the transfers were removed from last year's roster, which is something that hasn't been done before. They were part of a very special team that wouldn't have had the year they did without those girls. They don't deserve to be erased from history.

Re: MSU Women's Basketball Banquet
Something must have happened because players who transferred out from football and men's basketball are still listed on their online rosters for this past season, as are women's basketball players who transferred out in previous seasons. Definitely an unfortunate situation, whatever went on behind the scenes to cause it. How do they talk about last year's iconic Big Sky Championship game moving forward and [REDACTED]'s game winning shot at the buzzer to win it?Cat449yrs wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 3:32 pmI agree. The girls that transfered are gone. School is over. They're with their new team now.GrizgradCatFan wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 3:16 pmI heard that they didn't allow the girls who were transferring to attend and that kinda bugs me a little as they were part of this team. I attended. What a wonderful affair. I believe all the girls were there except the four portal transfers. The night was full of positives basking in the afterglow of a fantastic season. Great speaking from Coach Bin, Sunny Smallwood and Daniel Salle and some great video productions as well. Various awards were handed out and the room was full of smiles. Lots of insights into the myriad of things - small and large - that have to come together to form a strong program. Got to talk to most of the girls but my main mission was to speak with Katelyn and Taylor and THANK them for being Bobcats their entire career. If you haven't done so, join the Fast Break Club and plan to go to next year's event.

I also attended and totally agree with everything you said. Linsey Hine also stuck with the program for her entire career. It would have been easy for her step away when injuries ended her playing career.84CatGrad wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 7:36 pmI attended. What a wonderful affair.
