Ouch… this one gets to me a bit. I seriously don’t understand. Sure, she wants more playing time. But with Esme gone and the severity of Dylan’s injury and the amazing year Picton had in her role, she was going to get good playing time. This is a head scratcher, and I am going to have a hard time cheering for her now.

Re: Picton to Sac State
Robbins and Picton must have been lured to Weber and Sac State respectively by the rabid fan support both of those programs enjoy. Just watch out for the tumbleweeds rolling through during your home games. At least Picton vs Chirrick should be fun to watch but I hope MSU beats them by 50.

Maybe Sac St. is spending money on women's BB like they are with football...? In any case she's not my favorite player anymore!

This sucks. And I don't get it. Benthe Versteeg of Sac and Mack Konig of the griz will be the best point guards in the league next year. Benthe was second best to Esme this year. So she's still going to sit behind someone at point guard. I don't get it.

This is starting to make me think something is rotten in Denmark, and it's not the fish.....

The State of Montana is Bobcat country.

Players can enter the portal with high expectations but that does not mean the offers they hope for come. I believe staying in conference is usually a sign that coaches outside the conference didn't even look and so it's left to in conference coaches trying to fill slots they need. Time will tell if Picton gets any more playing time and a starting role.

It was rather fun humiliating Beattie. Watching her lose her composure in Bozeman made me smile. I guess Picton is next.

Mind boggling. Unless this is a late April Fool’s joke. Because it makes absolutely no sense. Maybe she just wanted a change in scenery and California golden sun instead of snow.

Re: Picton to Sac State
Other than money (and she didn’t come from Poverty Row) Sac State has nothing to offer. Maybe she just didn’t like playing on a 30-game winner and going to the NCAAs. It can sure cut into your study/social time. She was right back up where she was last year, at the top of the pecking order, but a far better player now than at the end of her freshman season.
Does Sacramento State have a sports television curriculum?
In my original comments on Dykstra and Picton, I predicted Picton would move in the south-west direction. Thanks, Nat, for not disappointing me. Bye.

I wonder if you're right. Why transfer to a team like Sac to play behind someone else again? And for a coach that's kind of a not great coach.CatRowdy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 9:54 pmPlayers can enter the portal with high expectations but that does not mean the offers they hope for come. It may well be as simple as that, perhaps California is a more desirable place to live for the next two years than Montana from her viewpoint. Trying to make sense out of these transfers from the outside looking in will always be an exercise in futility.

For both football and basketball, there have been some “head scratchers” these last couple years with players entering the portal (putting it as nicely as I possibly can)….. but this one might take the cake.
Just baffling.

Weird. I really don't like it when players transfer within the conference and leave great teams for so-so teams. But whatever.
And honestly, besides the weather, California is not a great place to live, especially northern California. Left 36 years ago and don't miss it at all. To each their own though.

Could not agree more. I'm trying really hard to stay a little positive about it but I'm not succeeding. She was primed to start and play major minutes for the best program in the Big Sky now she's going to a backwater where the average attendance is 475 (MSU is 2349). WTF?saintcat40 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 5:33 pmOuch… this one gets to me a bit. I seriously don’t understand. Sure, she wants more playing time. 1st I think it's funny we sit on here trying to understand what's going through a 19 year old young ladies mind.
2nd If she believes she should have started, played more minutes, been the star at MSU than I suspect leaving and going 'somewhere she's appreciated' was likely her only thought.
3rd, She has no choice but to accept at least one offer that comes in.... so in conclusion, if this was the best offer...she has to take it. Downgrade, upgrade whatever... she wants to keep playing and this might be her only choice.

As tough your # 2, she won't start. She's playing behind the best PG in the league now.CatRowdy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 12:09 pm1st I think it's funny we sit on here trying to understand what's going through a 19 year old young ladies mind.

Re: Picton to Sac State
Not sure I agree, at least at this point and admittedly there is a lot of time and a lot of practices before next season starts. I think there is a chance she at least has belief she will start. Assuming you are referring to Veersteg as the best PG in the league; I think there is a decent chance she will move to the 2 position. She had a great game against us in Bzn but struggles with scoring efficiency with 6.8 ppg, low shooting percentage and turnovers. All of which can improve before next season.. but at this point it would make sense for Sac to add a point guard who is a true point guard. Picton would likely fill that role, especially for a program that needs serious rebuilding and likely can't attract much higher qualified players.lutecat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 12:40 pmAs tough your # 2, she won't start.
