Thought I would start a new thread on this, as it will be interesting to see what the details of the contract are and if there's now a hefty buyout clause if he does get an offer "too good to refuse" in the next year or two. This is great news!

Awesome news! I'm also pretty curious about the contract.

As we know with Choate this doesn't mean he'll stay around for 4 years but hopefully it means we get at least 2, but I imagine we're going to hear speculation every offseason.

Interesting that he just signed a 4 year deal in 2021, but MSU had to act.

By my count he made $35k in performance bonuses this year, not factoring in any GPA or attendance bonuses.

Also not sure if he achieved this or not, I imagine he got that full $30k?
"Sprinkle is required to bring in $160,000 in guarantee revenue for the athletic department. After achieving that benchmark, Sprinkle would receive the next $30,000 as a bonus. The $30,000 after that would be split between the assistant coaches, and any remaining revenue would go to the men’s basketball program."

This is great for everyone - Danny, Players, University, Fans, Conference. It is a win/win/win/win/win!!! Even if he only stays a couple of years. Huge win for the Athletic department to cap what is likely one of the best years in Bobcat sports - if NOT the Best!! In 50 years of being a fan/booster, I recall no season as successful as this one across all sports. But then my memory fades after only looking back a couple of years.

Need to also pay Binford and assistants!

I hope she gets a new contract every year. I believe she's negotiated a new contract each of the last two years, and as of last year her base salary was higher than Sprinkle's. It seems pretty clear MSU is working hard to retain her!

Yep, during the season MSU announced the $40K/year Ellen Kreighbaum endowment and part of that money was stated to go towards retention of the head coach...i.e. Binford got her raise already and it was probably a substantial one. I'd guess that the gap between Binford's salary and that of MWC/WCC level women's head coaches is much less than the gap for Sprinkle on the men's side.

Really pleased that Sprink is staying. I think he has a lot more to accomplish while at MSU.

Overall, for all sports, the coaching staffs at MSU at the moment, are the best that I can remember...Football, MBB, WBB, Track and Field, Tennis, Volleyball, Golf, Rodeo...they all seem to be clicking at a high level. (Even the cheer squad and SOTW marching band are outstanding) Great to see! Credit to Leon and Waded for their work!

Details on the contract.

BOZEMAN — Danny Sprinkle’s new contract extension as head coach of the Montana State men’s basketball team comes with an annual salary increase of more than $18,000.

According to the terms of the contract, obtained Monday by the Chronicle, Sprinkle will be owed $185,711 in base salary through the life of the deal.
