Old B-ball jersey and shorts
I picked this jersey and shorts up the other day from a collector and I think they are probably from the 1970s. Does anyone with more knowledge of this stuff able to narrow down the time range this was worn and the player that may have worn it? I'm going to see if MSU wants it for a display.

The colors look like Texas State Bobcat's colors. I don't remember MSU ever using that color combination. I've been wrong before though. Just ask my wife.AFCAT wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:26 pmI picked this jersey and shorts up the other day from a collector and I think they are probably from the 1970s. Here's from about 1976. Shorts have that little belt though.Bobcat80 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 2:18 pmThe colors look like Texas State Bobcat's colors. I’m positive it’s an MSU jersey. Here are some pics I found.

On the first two pics above, the “T” has a serif. Hard to see on the third. The jersey you bought does not have a serif on the “T.” They aren’t the same.

I know they aren't the same, just similar. I'm researching yearbooks right now to locate a photo.

Is this one of those weird things like that dress on the internet years back where half the people saw blue and the other half saw yellow?!
Because I'm either not seeing the correct colors, or the Cats wore colors at some point in history that I never knew about.

Sorry AFCAT I’m 99.9% sure that is a Texas St Bobcats Jersey. Definitely their colors.
Or a 70s Southwest Texas St Jersey....this link somewhat shows that

I know for a fact that the school colors in 1970 and every year after that have been blue and gold/metallic yellow. I attended the games in 1970 as a nine year old and have followed them since.

I think the colors are probably right--if you look at the fabric on the trim of the jersey and shorts, it's still navy blue. It's the screen printed letters and numbers that look like they might have faded some and look maroon.

It's hilarious that you might have purchased an old jersey of the wrong school.

Re: Old B-ball jersey and shorts
MSU football jerseys were an azure blue in the 70s, then went to a royal in the early 80s, then navy later on in the 90s.
What did basketball have in the 70s for the shade of blue?

Re: Old B-ball jersey and shorts
Take them down to the pioneer museum and they might be able to let you know.
