MBB Roster Movement

Post by mslacat » Tue Mar 17, 2020 7:38 pm

It has been anounce that Zeke Quinlan amd Quentin Guliford will be transferring out of the program. Not shocking news and I am not sure all the shoes have dropped. Sprinkle and his coaches have been recruiting the JC ranks as well as a few high school players over the winter. Almost all of the have been guards and small forward who can shoot from deep. Just recently I have head about 6-8 big man who they are recruiting as a transfer. would have 1 year of eligibility. I am not sure if he would have to sit out a year or not. I look for Sprinkle to bring in scorers this fall

I agree, no surprises here. Zeke couldn't perform offensively and Quentin couldn't stay healthy. I wish them well and believe they will find their level and do well. For me, Zach Hobbs didn't meet performance expectations this year. Not sure he has the speed or quickness to be successful at this level.

Danny is demonstrating good management skills through these changes and that will benefit all involved. I couldn't agree more that we need more perimeter scoring and have no doubt we will be significantly improved next year.

Yep. Not a surprise. I also wish them well.

Both of them are really nice kids. I wish them well. But I was guessing this might happen also. We do need more shooters. Watching teams like UNC, EWU, etc., they all have at least 3-4 guys that will consistently hit the three when open. It is relatively easy to guard 1-2 shooters (like teams did to Harry and Laden this year), but pretty hard to cover 3 or more at all times.

Some help is on the way. I've heard this guy can really fill it up. I've also heard that Xavier Bishop was sometimes unguardable on the scout team. He scored a lot of points at UMKC. I would anticipate a starting lineup of Bishop, Hood, Adamu, Kirby, and Belo. Fernandez could start more at the 4 with Kirby and Belo platooning to protect for foul trouble. I really like how Fernandez was coming along at the end of the season. If we can add a couple more pieces and if guys like Bellach and Hobbs can have great summers this team has a chance to be pretty good.

Looks like kind of a cross between Ricketts and Adamu. He can shoot it from out and he has a quick release on his shot, but he also showed he can score at the rim-which was something Ricketts didn't do much. I like three year JC transfers-seems like a good get for Sprinkle.

I don't think he was on scholarship but another roster spot opens up.

He was no taking up a roster spot. I talked to an NAIA coach a while back and he predicted this would happen. NAIA is where he should be at.

Don’t how athletic we will be but team shooting % should go up. Be a little more balanced.

I hope my concern is wrong, but I am concerned how much of a team player he will be based on the quote in his twitter. "I focused on me now the focus is me" That does not sound like a team player.

Or he's talking about how he focused on improving himself and because of that focus, there was a larger interest from coaches including several scholarship offers, thus landing him here and getting him attention from other schools.

I thought the opposite. I saw no show boating after his three's.

I think you're reading too much into it.
