MBB Attendance
Coach Sprink has really focused on getting fans to the game....anyone know how this years attendance compares to last year? I would assume it's up?

It's not what it once was, but it's definitely getting better. Our student section is probably the quietest in all of college basketball. The band does a great job.

Boy howdy...when the band is not there it really takes the spirit out of the gym...you can feel their absence. They deserve a BBQ/recognition party hosted by our BB teams. Those band kids work hard.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 7:14 pmIt's not what it once was, but it's definitely getting better. Student attendance is somewhat better this year but as you noted and I agree...I sure wished they did more than sit on their hands. Grand Canyon University has a rowdy student section....Hearsay is they get some credits for attendance. Danny keeps working hard on it and little by little I hope he is successful.

Re: MBB Attendance
My two cents worth: Yes, the band is absolutely spectacular. I have often wondered if we ever had a championship contender (like the women are) what would happen. Students are an enigma. When I was in college I loved going to the basketball games and raising hell, making life miserable for the opposing team. Heck, even in football, look at the lack of student support. They always come to the Gold Rush game, but then after that there is typically a pretty good hole in the student section. Not for the Griz game of course.
I was watching the South Carolina women play the other night in front of 18,000 fans. I really think that given the kind of dominating season the Lady Cats are having, we should at least have 3000-4000 per game to support them. This year's Ladies team is one of the best to come out of the Big Sky in the past several years. Not my thought--that's what the Weber State announcers said the other night when we scored 102 points.

Re: MBB Attendance
That’s a bump of just short of 15% over last year, and last year was still part of the Tyler Hall attendance bump (see ‘14-15 — the crowds are double that last non-Tyler year). I think that’s a great improvement considering the team, although much better to watch for us basketball nuts, has not really had more wins which is what draws the more typical fans. Good job, Coach Sprinkle.Catfanatic84 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 7:38 amThanks for posting....great improvement. I agree on the point about the band...they deserve a lot of credit!
I wonder how our PlutoTV ratings are? Since we now live away, we never miss one this year. Even my wife is watching again!

Just my .02 - did they recently get a new subwoofer? The bass is out of control. Reminds me of teenagers cars with the music blaring. Seriously annoying.

Will Saturday night be a sellout? Will the hockey team and students stand for the school song? Will Choate lead the Golden Bobcat team reunion members in a rousing version of Moany! Moany! ESG GCG!!? Will someone check the bass on the speakers? Will they lift the "more intimacy" curtain off the second level? Will the Bobcats post their second win in 20 tries?

Will MSU be one or two wins away from winning a fourth consecutive Brawl Of The Wild Series after Saturday? LOLHotTubHigh wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2020 10:37 amWill Saturday night be a sellout? Whether MSU takes it again is not a question, just when.

Let the troll have his fun. After all, men's basketball is literally the only sport UM has left to boast about over MSU.
