WBB at Portland St.

Post by arvcat2 » Sat Jan 11, 2020 1:01 pm

A rare Saturday where the Conference/School scheduling administrators showed some common sense...the ladies tip-off at 3:00 pm and the men's game starts three hours later \:D/ Hope the ladies can be more cohesive & Squires is available.

Keep in mind that a week ago PSU DOMINATED Idaho 74-53.

Thursday night it was the top 2 defenses in the league. Today it is the top 2 offenses in the league...both averaging over 70 ppg. PSU (8-6 and 2-2) won the conference tourney last year and has beaten MSU 6 straight times.

PSU comes in off an extra day of rest and MSU comes in off a hard fought, bruising double OT game perhaps with two hobbled starters in Oli and Fallyn. Will be tough to win.

PSU is 5-1 at home. They have some height in 6’4” Stotler, a senior, last week POW in Big Sky. As noted above they dominated Idaho by over 20. In terms of 3-pt percentage shooters, PSU has 3 of the top 10 shooters in the league and 4 of the top 15. Hansen is shooting right at 48% from 3 range. Balanced offense with 3 ladies averaging over 12 ppg. Play has been inconsistent with a dominant win over Idaho but getting beat by SUU just prior?

Tough tough game for lady Cats today.

PSU plays almost exclusively zone and they have a very tall center. Kuderer and Martel need to have big games. Looks like Squires isn't suited up and has a big boot on her foot. Good first quarter. PSU was pretty cold. Martel hit one three and had two go all the way down and pop out. Keep shooting Tori.

Up 37-18 at the half. Could have been even more as we had a stretch where Freije went 1-4 from the line and we missed some makeable layups. But right after that Jackson hit a three and then Martel hit two more threes. Darian White isn't hurried up by that zone and she is picking them apart. Great to see. Hope they keep it going.

Thanks...not where I can watch. Is Freije moving OK?

She looks ok to me. She's pretty out-heighted against PSU's bigs but she's battling. Just having a hard time at the FT line.

Our women's team uniforms-home and away are far superior to the mens. PSU's little arena is sweet!

We maintain in that 3rd quarter and lead 51-33. PSU is ice cold from outside which helps, but I look for them to make a run. If they're going to stay in that zone I don't know why we don't run more shot clock. We could just about bleed this game out. If we're tired it will show up now.

PSU full court pressing now. MSU needs to not get sped up here. Burn that clock! Up 55-38 with 7:53 to go.

Kuderer dagger! She's too unselfish. Hits a three inside a minute and we're gonna win.

We are very tired and it showed a little bit in the 4th quarter. This is a really great bounce back win for our team.

Darian White bounced back the most. She absolutely carved them up today. Great player we got there.

Bobcats win 73-62. PSU hit a half court shot in the last second.

Great road win w/o Squires. Except free throws, all is good.

Outstanding!!! Held them 10 points under their average.
Didn't see game but sounds like Martha and Darian deserve game balls just from the comments. Nice bounce back win.

Also, with Squires out, Jackson played some guard and played way more controlled than last Thursday. She got some nice assists and hit a beautiful 3 where I don't think the net even moved

White had 19 points. She simply made the same shots she missed against Idaho. Like I said before, them playing zone mean't she wasn't sped up and more in control. Kuderer had 18 of the quietest points. You hardly notice she's out there and she stuffs the stat sheet. Martel had 11. Definitely a zone night as our guards got the open looks. If we had made a normal percentage of free throws we probably win by 20. Tired legs I'd guess.
