Spartan Invitational- App State

I see Appalachian State played Michigan and lost in a respectable score of 79 to 71. They are the first team we will play down south in the Spartan invitational, game time being Friday @ 2:30. Unfortunately this game is not being televised, however the next game on Saturday will be on ESPN 3. Looks to be some good competition for us. Hope we bring it!!

According to these guys, MSU is the underdog in this matchup, but the season is young so their models aren't exactly fine tuned yet.
Here's a quote from their page."Appalachian State opened its season with a competitive 79-71 loss against Michigan and then picked up wins against Ferrum and East Carolina. Guard Justin Forrest has been the catalyst on offense thus far, entering this matchup with 22 points per game. Guard Adrian Delph (10.3 ppg) and forward Isaac Johnson (10.0 ppg) are also averaging in double figures. As a team, the Mountaineers are shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc through three games.

Montana State, coming off a 15-17 (11-9 Big Sky) campaign last year, also had a respectable season opener, falling 81-73 on the road against a ranked Utah State squad. The Bobcats followed that up with a win over Rocky Mountain. Guard Harald Frey is off to a great start this season, averaging 23 points per game. He's hitting a sizzling 53.3 percent from 3-point range on the season. "

I found this article informative. App state has a new coach also this year, who is also implementing a new offensive scheme, where their big guy who usually played down low is now camping out and shooting threes some. Positionless basketball. Their close game with Michigan came as a result of a com from behind effort where they were down by 30pts, so they know how to claw back in and fight. We jumped out to a 10 to 2 lead with 3 dunks and a Harry Frey 4pt play, but they worked themselves back into the game and they are now ahead 25-24 @ the half.

Edit... the audio is horrible! Lots of background noise or something.

Frey hits a huge 3, we are up 47 to 42, then App state turns it over, Frey hits another 3! 50 to 42 with 3 minutes to go..

I switched to their play by play feed as well. He's a good announcer for this and you can actually hear the feed!

Wow. Last year we would have lost that one 89-86. The defense is obviously better-whatever Sprinkle is doing. That's a quality win.

MSU needs to work on audio! Sounds like he is under water. I, also, switched to ASU feed. Crystal clear and their announcer was good.
