Graduated in 2013, so she would have four to play four if she red-shirted for the Bengals.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

She didn't play at all at ISU. Has been at MSU since the past fall.
Info for preps, MSU men's basketball & MSU Olympic sports shows up here first: http://twitter.com/gidal_kaiser" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Blue & Gold Blog: http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/app/msu-bobcats/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But because she enrolled in college, her clock started ticking. So she will have four years to play four. If she sits out next year, she'll have three to play three.Gidal Kaiser wrote:She didn't play at all at ISU. Has been at MSU since the past fall.

Re: Lady Cats add a player
Four questions if anyone has this info: 1. Did MSU recruit her out of high school?
2. Did UM recruit her?
3. If so, wonder why she wanted to play at ISU?
4. What were her stats at Bozeman (I don't follow Bozeman high school sports)?

Here are some answers to my own questions. Looks like UM did not recruit her based on this article.

As a senior, she averaged 15.4 points on 42 percent shooting, 8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.aucat wrote:Here are some answers to my own questions. Looks like UM did not recruit her based on this article.

She originally committed to ISU, but never went. At that time, Idaho State was the defending league champions. She was recruited by MSU and UM. She's been in school at MSU since the beginning of the 2013 fall semester.

Re: Lady Cats add a player
At 6-1 and having averaged 8 rpg in high school, I'm guessing Davis is a post as well. DeWitt was 6-2.Helcat72 wrote:so basically we replaced a post player the DeWitt with a guard? Or is Amy a post player?

I'd agree. The LG had only two scholarships to hand out after 2013 and with the previous injury history of our guards (Haley Vining, Shanae Gilham, etc.) it was get two more guards. 5'6" PG Sierra Anderson out of Jackson High School in the State of Washington and 5'8" SG Maddie Keast out of Missoula. The LG already had 6'3" Alycia Simms and a 6'2" "Mac" (Mekayla) Isaac out of Bend,Oregon already signed previously along with 5'11" Kayleigh Valley. So it was to get some guards and frontcourt players weren't all that recruited at all. Maybe next year.
The LG don't have that many healthy players for the guard position next year. Sure, there's Kellie Cole, then there's D.J. Reinhardt and Hannah Doran, but without McCalle Feller walking on and doing quite well that would have been it, almost. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Sierra Anderson playing next year as a true freshman off the bench. She could be quite good considering her fellow teammate in high school averaged 15.6 points a game and is going where her older sister played and that's U of Washington Huskies (Kingma I believe her last name is). Anderson averaged 15.3 ppg.

Re: Lady Cats add a player
This could be an interesting situation. Anybody know if Idaho State has given Davis a release from her LOI? According to the dialogue below, from the NLI website, the penalty for not fulfilling a signed letter without a release is the loss of two seasons of eligibility.
What happens if I change my mind and I do not want to attend the institution with which I sign and want to attend another National Letter of Intent institution?
If you do not attend the institution with which you signed or if you do not satisfy the terms of the National Letter of Intent Program, the basic penalty is you lose two years of eligibility at the next National Letter of Intent institution and you must sit two years in residence at that school.
Can the Basic Penalty which calls for a loss of two years of eligibility and requires that I sit two years in residence at the next National Letter of Intent Institution be reduced?
Yes. The Basic Penalty under the National Letter of Intent agreement can be reduced by entering into a Release Request Form with the signing institution. By entering into a Release Request Form, the institution and the student-athlete mutually agree to release each other from any commitment and liability to each other as a result of signing a National Letter of Intent. Pursuant to the Release Request Form, you may not represent a second National Letter of Intent institution in any sport during the first year of residence there and you will be charged with a loss of one season of competition in all sports.

I don't think she ever signed with ISU. Thought it was just a verbal??Bengal visitor wrote:This could be an interesting situation. Anybody know if Idaho State has given Davis a release from her LOI? I'm confident that MSU athletics and WBB know the rules about all this and she wouldn't step foot onto the court if there was any questions.

I guess ISU could do that, but why would they? That seems petty and spiteful. Do schools exercise this option very often?Bengal visitor wrote:This could be an interesting situation.
