Cats play an NAIA school from Oklahoma City. Why? I have no idea. But they put out a big offensive showing winning 109-79. That's pretty good-some of Huse's past teams couldn't have scored 107 against empty air. I couldn't make it to the game, but hopefully we get a report or two here. UTEP is next early next week-then it's conference.

I must say-this has been a terrible non-conference schedule-I'm sure everybody-fans, coaches, and players-are glad to get it over with and move on to conference games.

The game looked like a scrimmage. The one positive thing is that the offense was really flowing well, both inside and outside. Really, that's to be expected in a play down game. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to tell a lot. I thought Paul Egwuonou and Calen Coleman had some decent moments inside, and the Cats made 13 three pointers. There's still plenty of work to do on the defensive end, but Southwestern Christian is a three point shooting team.

I was thinking the same thing about scheduling. It'll be good to get to conference play and see some familiar opponents. I'm really stretching my mind to think how the Cats can improve non-conference scheduling. The games, especially at home, just don't have that much draw.

Oh well, we'll see how they compete against UTEP and then it's Big Sky time.

Has Calen Coleman been playing in the paint against every opponent? Because there's no Southwestern Christian in the Big Sky, and rebounding and interior defense are pretty important parts of the game.

I've only seen 2 of the games so far, but he's had decent moments based on what I've seen. I'll have to tell you more after a few games. Overall, several guys had slightly better inside moves. The problem with this non-conference schedule is that it doesn't really tell us that much.

From what I've read, and the little I've seen, Eric Norman has been the revelation of this non-conference season. He had a huge game tonight-but then again SCU didn't have a guy over 6'5" so that probably helped. Huse has repeatedly praised Norman this season.
