It's media day down at MSU in about an hour. I'll have a podcast with Huse, Binford, a women's player and men's player up later this afternoon. What do you all want to know about this year's team?

I have MANY questions but none that are real appropriate for huse at this time. they would come across as condescending and very dickish. i'll hold off for the time being... :-^

I've set my standards low for this season: I will consider it a successful season if one of three things happens: We beat the griz at least once; we don't have a late season swoon; we win a conference tournament game.

Bonus points if we don't lose to Idaho State by 39 this season!

My hope for the year is that we squeak into the conf tourney.

There is a cure for the bitching, it's called winning, no late swoons, wins at the tourney.

And what? Accept mediocrity? Come on man, enough with this "everything is just fine, MSU doesn't do anything wrong, EVER" shtick. You're the ONLY poster on here who constantly does this. You know what? If there is an apparent problem with any one of our programs, people have a right to voice their displeasure with it.

you'll get you wish. the team just has to win first. some of us are just a little tired of giving all of our support season after season after season only to be let down every time.

it's like being a bartender. some of us would get tired pouring drink after drink after drink for a guy and waiting on his every need knowing he's not going to tip regardless. at some point the guy is going to have to tip for the bartender to feel better about taking care of him...

You are damn right that I am one of the only few who support this program unconditionally and dont mock our coach and players. You know how hard it is to field a competitive, mid - major basketball team?? And don't give me this "U of M does it". That argument is old because every one who posts on here talks about how they would not want there type of players on the MSU squad. Most of those kids that ended up a U of M were looking at MSU, but they could not meet the academic requirements. That is a fact!

You make it sound like something is owed to you personally...it isn't. If following this program is so difficult for you and makes you feel like a jilted bride on her wedding day, then just stop following them!

Most of are here bitching because we do care. We all have some fond memories of exciting MSU basketball, of having fun watching the games, etc. We just want that back. I watch most Cat games still, even though I get so fed up sometimes I just wana shut it off.

If the "UM does it" argument doesn't hold water for you, how about this? MSU used to do it. I doubt there are many Bobcat fans who don't want players like their old basketball legends at MSU.

You are right, MSU used to do it. However, the college athletic landscape has changed quite a bit since then i.e.- APR. In addition, the quality of Montana High School basketball has gone down over the years. Most of the high school athletes that would make great basketball players are now playing football instead.

So what, we as fans and alumnus are just supposed to put up with a terrible program (that we happen to love) and a lackluster coach? Almost every team in the BSC (not counting the newest members) has won a Conf or Tourney title and been to the big dance since the last time MSU did any of the above; PSU, UM, WSU, UNC (yes, even fricking UNC!), NAU, EWU. The only other schools that haven't are ISU and CSUS; the two crappiest athletic departments in the BSC. Do you seriously want MSU to be associated with these two athletic departments in any way? I don't.

Let me put it this way; according to your logic, we should just accept our fate as a crappy MBB program and accept the status quo. Would you accept this same theory in your own career? If you have, I feel sorry for you. Whether you like it or not, NCAA D-1 basketball is a business and when a business is doing poorly, it either gets better or folds. I'd much rather have the former than the latter. However, nothing has happened from 2002 to this point to turn this trend around and it's on the verge of simply just imploding.

And no, it's not owed to me personally, it's owed to the MSU MBB fanbase as a whole. And last season, I pretty much did stop following them. Up until last season, I listened to all of the away games on the radio or watched on BSTV, went to all of the home games I could make. Hell, I was part of the ill fated student "Blue Crew" when I was in school. I hadn't missed a Cat/Griz home game since 2002. I grew up bleeding Blue and Gold and MSU MBB was my first love, well before MSU Football ever was. I remember sitting in the living room as a kid playing with my toys while listening to Dean Alexander exclaim when Scott Hatler drained a 3, or when Nico Harrison slashed through the lane for an athletic layup or Quadre Lollis hammered home a dunk.

Last year I attended one early season game in November and that was enough for me; I saw a team completely out of synch on defense and offense and a coach who had lost his team. And it didn't really change throughout the course of the season. I'm tired of the mediocrity. Tired of hearing Brad yell at the players, tired of the same old post game excuses, tired of seeing players leave the team, tired of consistently inconsistent play, tired of 39 point beatdowns at the hands of a 6-24 ISU team, tired of mediocrity.
