The one glaring problem that I have seen out of the lady bobcats is the amount of bad/forced passes that they commit.

argh!!! If this team would just take better care of the ball and shoot it just a little bit better...we'll we wouldn't be down here in 6th. EWU is playing the same way, it's just that they have Lexi Nelson who can shoot it. We're down 31-40.

Well this one ain't ending well. Tough way to go out getting blown out by EWU. One and done. Lots of talent coming back next season, but they need some size and they need some shooters.

Yeah, it doesn't look too bad for ya next year; perhaps in the upper half of the BSC. You got a number of fairly decent Perimeter players back in Kalli Durham, Peyton Ferris and Lindsay Stockton. A couple RedShirts in Margreet Barhoum and Shayla Mack? Some Frontcourt personnnel in Jackie Elliott, Ashely (Albert) Brumwell, Jasmine Hommes and Emily Allen. Your cupboard's not completely bare, by any stretch of the imagination. They should only improve, I would think.
One item of concern I can see is whether Chelsea Banis can recover from her injuries. I was hoping that the LG would have recruited her out of Fairfield a while back; sorry to see that she's had such a hard time of it. She would have made a significant difference if she was 100 % healthy, I would think. Not too certain, however, what happened with Kayla DeWit. She was a pretty highly touted player as well coming out of high school, but she's still young and but a sophomore next year. In fact, you'll be a somewhat young team next year, as well; with but three seniors (Brumwell, Allen & Banis)?

Don't know right off hand who else you have recruited for next year. A twenty game regular season schedule is quite the grind. At least the LG don't have to put up with that Rachel Semansky anymore!!! Noticed even back when she was a sophomore that she was a top player.

Wish you luck in the future. At least health wise.

Lots of talent coming back next year? Are you talking about the talent from the 8-1 start in BSC play? Or are you talking about the "talent" from the total and complete collapsed team during the second half of the season? If it is the latter, I'm afraid I do not see much talent out there at any position.

This team proved to be the biggest disappointment by any Bobcat team that I can remember in recent years. At this point, I have very low expectations for next year. Middle of the road at best in the BSC, which is about what any Bobcat hoops fan can seem to ever hope for these days.

I'll say one thing for our rivals over in Missoula. They sure as hell know how to field hoops teams. MSU finally decided to quit being the red-headed stepchild in football. Wonder if it will ever happen in hoops? Missoula hosts two BSC tourneys this year. We host one about every two or three decades if we're lucky.

Brumwell and Elliot just need to lock themselves in a gym and shoot jumpers all summer. Both have all the tools...except shooting the rock.

I don't know how to evaluate this season. There were certainly some great moments: a win in Missoula to move to 8-1 in conference play, road wins over Utah State, Colorado State, and Clemson. At one point, the Cats had a top 100 RPI and were projected as a 13 seed in the NCAA tournament according to Bracketology. Rachel Semansky did a great job most of the season, Latisha Adams ran the offense smoothly, and we saw that the Cats will have some great players going forward. It was amazing to see how Lindsay Stockton could dominate games in spurts. However, with that much promise in the season and such a strong position at the end of January, there can't be any way to overlook the way the team's fortunes went at the end of the season. We can point to a few things, such as teams figuring out that the offense went through Rachel Semansky and styming every other shooter. The three point shooting was atrocious, and there were stretches where no one could hit a shot. In many ways, it was a decent season, and in others, it was very frustrating. Let's let this one percolate for a bit before moving on to next season. I'm not sure which Bobcat team will show up. Shooting needs to improve, especially beyond the three point line. This team has the tools to be the team that dominated the Big Sky in the first half of the season, but they need to figure out shooting percentages and what's going on in their heads.

Yep, they need to definately work on their passing in half court set next year. Way to many lazy passes across the top and wings (lots of turnovers). They get that cleaned up and improve their outside shooting I think we will be a top tier team. I was just amazed watching them this year how bad their ball control/passing was up top for a college team (floating passes, passes that have bad angles, player doesn't have defender sealed, passes into the post from top of key - bad angle). All that can be corrected, but it seemed to get sloppier as the season went on.

Is it time to start questioning if Trish is the right person for the job, much like Huse?

She has 2 years left on her contract.
Binford is MSU's longest tenured coach as well as its winningest in its women's basketball history. Last winter, she pushed her career win total to 103 victories, which ranks first on MSU's all-time coaching ladder. Binford's squads have played for the Big Sky title twice in the last five seasons and have made six straight postseason appearances.

In the classroom, the Bobcats have been ranked among the top 12 academic teams in the nation at the NCAA Division I level in five of the last six years. And, within the community, the MSU women's program gave over 300+ hours of service during 2011-12.

In her seven years in the Gallatin Valley, Binford has produced a whopping 58 Big Sky Conference All-Academic honorees; 18 Big Sky Conference Players of the Week; 14 All-Big Sky Conference performers; one academic All America; four CoSIDA Academic All District VII recipients; two Big Sky Conference Defensive Players of the Year; one Big Sky Newcomer of the Year; one Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year; and most recently her first All America Honorable Mention in Katie Bussey.

With Binford, I just view this as a down year. Even Selvig has had a few sub par years.

looks like married life for brumwell(albert) hasn't helped her basketball career.

She hasn't gotten us to the promised land, but she made it to the title game a couple of years ago. She also beat the griz in the Big Sky tourney last year, and she beat the griz this year and had a winning record.

I think she is right person for the job, but they just need to improve on taking better care of the ball. If we were running that up tempo system (Trying to create easy baskets) more I could see why we would have more turnovers, but a lot of these have been in the half court set in the last part of the season. I didn't go through all the box scores on turnovers but it sure seemed like we were more 'crisp' in the half court set at taking care of the ball earlier in the year. It looks like we do have some good recruits coming up though so hopefully we can get back into the tourney next year and compete for the conference/tourney title.
