MBB vs Northern Colorado

Post by BelgradeBobcat » Sat Feb 09, 2013 7:59 pm

Paul Egwuonwu and Flavian Davis are still out...so our chances of winning this one are slim. Barden is going to be a load for our non existent inside game to stop.

down 11 at halftime. The level of suckage on display defies belief. Just because we're missing our big guys doesn't mean the guards have to turn it over again and again...but that's what they're doing.

Ugh, what a sh!tty way to end the half. UNC hits a running bankshot 3 for a 41 -30 halftime lead. Bobcats are outmanned in the post and it's shown badly in the first half. UNC is just doing a rope-a-dope with MSU. Hitting 3's and driving at will into the lane with solid ball screens... Cats are taking a lot of 3's, but they have to - Brumwell has played well, but he tires out quickly and is replaced by Budinich, who doesn't seem to excel at anything other than being tall... If Brumwell had Budinich's stature, I'm not so certain he would be playing for MSU - likely a WCC or maybe PAC12 school.

These guys are playing hard and huslting, but the cards are just stacked against.

Hopefully Flavien and Paul are both back for the stretch run. If not, our February swoon will again come to pass.

Montana State has 9 healthy players. Six are guards. Nothing but 3 and sometimes four-guard lineups. Hard to protect the rim when Blake Brumwell and Jeff Budnich are your centers. Also tough for teams to not be able to shoot over a backcourt of Michael Dison and Antonio Biglow who go 5-9, 6-0.

Cats shot 39 percent in first half. UNC shot 55 percent. Tevin Svihovec had 13 to lead all scorers. Christian Moon had 9 on three 3s.

Game was tied at 25. MSU got outscored 16-5 over the last 4:20 of the first half. Reminiscent of Thursday night's game that saw North Dakota go on 36-18 run over game's final 10:48.

To their credit, they only have 6 turnovers, and at one point had 1 to UNC's 4. I'd say 3 of the turnovers are a direct result of trying to step up and make a play. Again, heart and effort are there, but with Flavien and Paul out, we lose 18+ points a game and 10+ rebounds a game... (not to mention their defensive abilities).

Crappy circumstance for MSU.

So we're way behind, way undersized and still running the same stuff we always run, which barely works when we're whole. No press, no fast break, no nothing different. I don't get it-if we're going to go down, go down fighting.

guys...it's february. most of us knew what would happen with this team at this point of the season. sadly...nothing will change because there are zero expectations for this program and people are fine with any sport not named football being crap. it's sad. :(

there's some pressure and some better results. The gap has narrowed at least temporarily.

Yeah, I quit watching. Too much Deja-vu. It's like this team is cursed right now... concussion, mono, loss of a family member. 3 more items that we can add to an ever lengthening list of bad luck for MSU Men's hoops. It sure is frustrating, as a Bobcat basketball fan that we can't seem to catch a break with ANYTHING related to the program... Have we not been tortured enough? :(

crazy that the team that beat the cats by double digits thursday is getting smashed by 20 against the griz. :(

griz might be favored by 25+ the next time we meet...

Please explain. Are you talking a about tonight's game, this season, or the program in general? Whatever you meant, I'm not sure that I agree

tonights game. They reeled it into a 4 point deficit for a moment by upping the pressure and taking it to them on offense. Then they started to suck again, including missing bushels of free throws. Bad teams are bad at everything.

the blowout is well underway again. UNC seems to have no touble making their free throws. But we Bobcat fans should be happy. We can't get a better coach, nobody wants to play in Bozeman, and some of our guys try hard...that's pretty much the company line from the admin, to the media, to quite a bit of the fan base. Gosh I love February.
