Bracket Buster
We get South Dakota on Sunday, February 24 for our bracket buster game. Not a sexy matchup, but a winnable game...maybe, and Huse could use all of those he can get. USD is 8-15. They have a home win over South Dakota State who is pretty good. We'll have to go to their place next season I presume.

Re: Bracket Buster
This game might be an interesting matchup. Of course, I was expecting the BracketBuster people to match MSU with Idaho again. I see they're at ISU. This was almost a Big Sky conference game. In fact, I'd like to see the Cats face off with USD, SDSU, and NDSU more often in men's and women's basketball.
GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan!

My name is Steve, if you'd like to know.

Does UI rejoin the league next season or not until 2014-15?bozbobcat wrote:This game might be an interesting matchup. Re: Bracket Buster
If you're one of the top mid-major schools in the country, a Bracketbuster game is an opportunity to play a nationally televised game against another of the top mid-major schools from another conference - good for exposure and your NCAA Tournament prospects if you get a win.Common Cat wrote:Can someone explain what a Bracketbuster game is?
If you're MSU, NAU, UNC, Idaho State or one of the many other schools whose only shot at getting anywhere near the NCAA Tournament hinges on pulling multiple upsets in your conference tournament, a Bracketbuster game is a chance to play a random non-conference game right in the middle of conference play against an opponent your fans likely don't care about in front of an even smaller crowd than you usually draw. In MSU's case, it's also generally an additional game to add to the annual February losing streak. Hopefully, that part of it will change this year anyway...

Re: Bracket Buster
You can bet Huse smiled when he saw the matchup, walked into Shawn Dirden's office and said "Tell me everything you know." Dirden was an assistant coach at USD for the past couple seasons. This BracketBuster sets up to be a good matchup, at least, in the final year of the ESPN-created machination. MSU can acutally use it as a little bit of an RPI boost, as the Coyotes have played the likes of Gonzaga, Iowa, Kansas State and South Dakota State.
