Cats vs SUU

MSU up 14-11 early on. I am interested to see how they are able to respond to the disappointing loss on Saturday. SUU is playing the back half of the odd Thursday-Monday road trip, so they're probably anxious to get out of Montana!

MSU started this half out on fire. 2 3s in first 16 seconds. 42-31

And I was a little disappointed that the BSC games were not on Root. Thought since the FB games were on that the BB games would follow.....Guess it is all contractural (sp). Oh well

Not getting some of those rebounds that I feel we should be pulling down.

MSU hits its FTs down the stretch and wins it 76-68 to move into a 3rd place tie with UND, only 4 games behind UM and Weber! Another homestand coming up next week with Weber and ISU coming to Bozeman to complete the 1st half of the conference season and thereby begin MSU's always interesting second half!

I can't seem to find a link right now, but when the Big Sky announced their partnership with Root Sports, I know that the press release said that Root would cover "up to 12 Big Sky basketball games". To date, they've only televised 2 and don't have any more scheduled as far as I can tell....................

Frankly...I can't blame them. The Big Sky just isn't very good. Even our top teams would struggle mightily in almost any other D-1 league. Also, our arenas are empty which doesn't look too good on TV.

Looking more and more like a team! Good ball movement tonight, good shot selection. Defense still has plenty of holes but the guys are coming together and starting to gel.

Good win tonight against a prettty decent (for the Big Sky) SUU team. They have some nice players on that team.

I think ultimately the difference was MSU's quickness overcame their size advantage. Biglow caused all kinds of havoc with their point guard, but as soon as he got over the half line he was a big time threat from three point range. Blount was also a menace on defense and got a huge steal which released Moon for a big dunk. As noted above, MSU let a few rebounds go on defense, kind of like that last possession against the griz. We also blew some fast break opportunities off of steals that if converted could have blown the game open.

SUU just kept hanging around and were in position to steal it, but we made enough free throws and their big guy missed an abosolute bunny at a critical time.

We had to overcome ref Eric Curry...who is convinced we all paid to watch him ref. He loves to make the call 40 feet from the basket-and he's never been friendly to MSU for some weird reason.

I couldn't remember who it was that had the special fan to ref relationship with Eric Curry.

Seems to me he had moved on to games in bigger conferences like the Pac-12 and Mountain West. Now he's baaaaaaaaccccckkk!!! ](*,)

No, it wasn't me, I just can't stand him. It was the poster formerly known as longhorn22, now CatBlitz. I watched in disbelief and astonishment when Curry had him tossed from a game... I don't think he even said anything vulgar... Maybe he used his last name; something like "Curry, you're horrible!" I've actually heard that a time or two from Chris Attebury and Curry never tossed him!

The real story is that my buddy and I had been chosen to participate in a TV timeout "human barrel race"-type shindig. As we were waiting for the green light, we were standing next to Eric Curry and I took the opportunity to inform him that the other team was holding too much under the basket. For whatever reason, he didn't like that. Not one bit. I'm not sure if he thought I just came down there to talk shi* or if his skin is as thin as Colin Mochrie's hair. But anyway, he said something like "You can't come down here and talk to us like that! Who do you think you are?!"
I was kind of beside myself and I didn't quite know what to do. In my moment of panic I missed the start of the barrel race and we lost. On my way off the court his referee buddy said I was gone. I said "Nope" and continued to walk to my seat. I then pleaded with an MSU representative and I was allowed to move sections and stay hidden for the rest of the game. Eric did nothing to help his image that day. And he still sucks as a ref.

My memory is foggy from what transpired for us to come up with "Eric Curry makes me sad." I don't remember if we yelled it or we created a sign with that on it to what it has become today. Anyways, ever since that incident occurred, Mr. Curry and his hair have become sworn enemies of mine, even though it makes me laugh that Mr.Blitz was ejected from the game by a ref.

I suppose it was karma from years and years of yelling at refs.
