budinich and johnson? anyone have any word on what these guys got themselves into this weekend? just annoying that somehow we have players who manage to be even worse off the court as they are on it. and sadly....that isn't easy to do these days. :(

The basketbal team needs to get with the program. There is a breakdown somewhere in this program.

Odd. They always seemed like good kids. Budinich just recently got engaged if I remember correctly.

Anyways, stupid decision on their parts. I don't understand how these kids can get a free education and just throw it away, absolutely idiotic. Maybe this is what we get for talking so much trash about the Griz?

Oh and I'll be the first to say it...

At least it wasn't anybody on the football team.

I got confirmation that Budinich was charged with breaking into an unlocked vehicle and stealing something. I don't know what it was he took or any other circumstances. I couldn't confirm that Johnson had been charged with anything, but it appears he was charged with the same thing as Budinich.

I also got confirmation that Scott Ash, Rob's son, was involved in a fight at Bar IX and charged with disorderly conduct. I don't know if anyone was injured or if any property was damaged in the altercation.

It seems like everything bad happens at Bar 9. I really dislike that frat bar.

I don't know what happened in Bozeman, but when I was working downtown there'd be a fight once in a while, but not very often and that was all the bars downtown -- via word of mouth that was impression I had. It wasn't like Helena where there was a fight every weekend night somewhere and sometimes multiple fights in the same joint. I'd come home to Helena for a weekend and it was a different planet. Bozeman was always laid back that way. Sounds like it's changed, but maybe it just sounds worse than it is.

just kinda depends on the bars i guess. bar 9 is the new "it" place downtown and it can be pretty fun. but with so many people every single night, and so many meatheads getting hammered, it does seem to me to be a lot more fights than at other places. guess i'm just getting older but in general i'm not impressed with some of these places downtown. too many idiots, too much dick measuring, and no respect for anyone. i have witnessed several fights over the years both involving athletes and not. i have a hard time blaming the establishments though. it's just kids being morons and it's really annoying to me when they are student athletes involved.

I worked just about every weekend night for four years and only saw an athlete throw a punch once and that was when two players had words, went out back, duked it out, shook hands and came back in a finished their beers. There was some pushing and shoving, and words exchanged, but even that was very rare.

As for dick-measuring isn't that a worldwide phenomenon at all ages?

How has there been nothing about this from MSU or the Chronicle yet. I know you have to get facts in line and all, but with everything going on with other schools, it doesn't look good when a message board is talking about it for a day or two and no-one else has said anything...

As for the school, it just happened early Sunday morning, so I imagine the first time the school heard anything was yesterday morning. Then they have to go through the process of determining what happened and how they're going to respond, then run that by the powers-that-be. I would guess you'll see something in the next couple of days, which seems reasonable.

As for the Chronicle, they merely need to ask Bozeman Police Dept. and run with it. They don't need to get an official release from the school. The police reports don't say where the people they arrest work or go to school, so it could be that the person at the Chronicle that checks the reports simply didn't know that these guys are on the team. Maybe Gidal and Colter haven't heard anything or read this thread yet. All kinds of reasons for the delay, if it can even be called that.

Jail roster is really really easy to search.

these seem reasonable and i could be mistaken but wasn't the fight with the football guys and hoops player reported on pretty quick after the fact? certainly not 3+ days after. don't get me wrong, i'm not a conspiracy guy and i certainly don't think it's a coverup as much as bearaxed prays it is.....but still seems odd. usually you don't see several days of message board banter about players getting arrested before it's even mentioned in the news or paper. :?

Right, but if you're the dude at the paper that does these things (I doubt that's Gidal or Colter's job), then you'd have to recognize their names in order to look into it further. These aren't high crimes, so the guy looking at it isn't going to investigate further unless, by chance, he knows they're someone off the hoop roster.
