Stop the Bleeding!

I see the griz basketball team was given a police, fire truck escort to the airport before leaving for the tournament, mean while the Bobcat program is getting an ambulance ride to the hospital, its on life support and it doesn't look good. Are you serious? Where is the vote of confidence from anyone? It starts at the top with the Athletic Director. The guy can't even hire a volleyball coach and doesn't even know how to fire a football coach. Who is he accountable to? Bobacat Basketball isn't even a Mid-Major program, its a Low-Minor program right now. Give me a reason to go watch! Honestly, if the season started today, I could not go and watch! I would rather stay home and watch Swamp People on the History Channel.

Looks like the UM Griz will need that ambulance when the plane lands in Missoula. They were pathetic. However, if you read my earlier post, that would've been the case with any of the BSC teams. That's why I say we need another national division for mid-majors in hoops like we have in football.

I hear you though. I'm sick and tired of seeing the Griz dominate us. It was great to see the women put an end to their season the other night.

If we don't want to (attempt to) compete at the Division 1 level in basketball (which is really the primary reason why FCS schools are Division I in the first place), why wouldn't we just move down to D-II for everything? That would be a lot cleaner than carving out another subdivision of some sort.

Lehigh and Norfolk State (both FCS playoff teams) would strongly disagree with the need for a basketball subdivision...and I would too.

And enormously cheaper.

If all the high school players from Montana, Wyoming and Idaho came together, there might be an equal recruiting base to that of Lehigh and Norfolk.

Not even close. Pennsylvania an Virginia have many more millions than MT., ID., and WY. combined. Hell, Philadelphia has more people itself. That being said, there's no way any Big Sky team can recruit in the East, where the majority of good players are. We have to wait until some of them go to JCs somewhere.

One common thread from the NCAAs is that teams that play good D can hold their own, even if they aren't particularly big.

Ohio U. not only has the same nickname as MSU, but also has the same fight song!

I like it!! I actually have MSU winning it all in my bracket, but I had Ohio going out in the 1st round.

There's not a single team in the Sweet 16 from the West Coast or Mountain West (I'm referring to those regions, not the WCC or MWC conferences). The Pac 10 has been a joke the last few years. This was the 1st time in history that a regular season champ from one of the "big 6" conferences, who didn't get an auto bid by winning their conference tourney, was left out of the Big Dance. That's how far the Pac 10 has fallen. Gonzaga and St. Mary's continue to be "wanna be's", rather than legitimate contenders. In fact it seems like Gonzaga's program has actually declined slightly over the past few seasons. No one from the WAC or Big West has been very good recently. BYU and SDSU had good teams last year, but that was probably an aberration. The gap may be narrowing between the BSC and the other western conferences, but that's because they're all getting worse, rather than the BSC getting better.
