WBB Bracketology

MSU is currently listed as a 14 seed playing against Michigan State in the first round. I'm a bit surprised they're as high as 14 given their struggles early on leading to a still less-than-impressive overall record, but it's nice to see anyway!

That is indeed impressive. I don't know, the Lady Cats sure don't look too tough when you just at their size and of course, only 8 team members at present. However, they are in the groove right now.
They are a fun bunch to watch. I don't know if they are just playing over their heads, or if they have found this great team chemistry that allows them to overachieve. It's been a great run.
Keep it up, ladies!

The Lady Cats are leading the conference in scoring, top 3 in defense, assists and steals. Getting it done on both ends of the floor.
I don't think that there are any superstars on the team that can be relied on game to game but a group that plays really well as a team.
The other thing is that Coach Binford is very good at recruiting talent that fits her style of play where most of her players are interchangeable position wise.
There is a lot parity on the women's side so the getting any victory is very tough.
It will be interesting to see how our post game holds up against the Lady Griz who have a ton of talent at the 4 and 5 positions.

The bracketology is always "relative" to the 1-bid conferences. MSU is hot, MSU leads the pack and that's why they're "labeled" a 14 seed. That being said, I agree with everything you all have said already.

Alright folks, time to pay some attention to the team that is getting it done on the court despite a lot of things going against them instead of the one that is going downhill yet again.
The Ladies are doing amazing and in the latest women's bracketology again are in as a 14 seed playing the other MSU, Michigan State. The cool thing is they would be playing in Spokane if that actually happened.

We need to get everybody behind this team, they are doing something special this year and they deserve the full support of BobcatNation! Let's go ladies, wrap up the regular season title so we can all cheer you on in the Conference Tourney here in the Fieldhouse!

Wow -- wouldn't that be cool! Definitely have to plan a road trip for that one if it happened! I know I am already planning on taking my family to the BSC tourney if the ladies can hang on to host!!

That ESPN is sheer speculation; if MSU gets into the NCAA it'll probably be as a #16 Seed goin' up against either Baylor or Connecticut' then what'll you do?

Thank you Debbie Downer. We all know that it is not set in stone, but it is fun to think about.

Uh, cheer for them and hope they win? That's what I plan to do.

Yeah, that's true. But really, with all the competiton out there at the Division I level it's very, very difficult to believe that the BSC Champion will get much better Seeding. What is there ?..over three hundred schools eligible for the NCAA Tournament these days? Maybe a completely undefeated season with a fairly decent RPI might just get you to #12 or even #9 in the Regionals but it's mighty hard to believe much better. Maybe twenty years ago but in today's world it's a lot of dreaming and sheer reality says that the small fry are a good story, makes good copy in the media, getting into the First Round to begin with and all that, but don't expect to see them in the Second, etc. Not with the way the pairings go.

Yeah, WCBB is a VERY topheavy league. I would say only about 5 teams have a shot at winning the national title in any given season, and the usual suspects almost always include Baylor, Tennessee, Stanford, and Connecticut. Sometimes it's even less than that (like last season... Everyone knew UConn was going to win it).

Right now the Lady Griz might be playing the best ball right now. They are one of the few teams in the Big Sky that has a lot of size in the post and their young players are starting to come on. Portland State isn't too far behind.
The Lady Cats are playing at a high level but when they are just off a little bit, the other teams in the Big Sky are talented enough to take advantage and pull out a win.
It will make the playoffs very interesting.

With five conference games each I'd hope both MSU & UM would win all of them. Finishing first and/or second in the regular season standings are First Round byes going into the BSC Championship, regardless of where it's held.
Well, if the LG had a 6'8" Brittney Griner like Baylor does then I'd definitely agree that the LG has a "post" presence. Good to see someone like Xavier at #6 in both the AP Poll and the ESPN/USA Today. Gonzaga in #25 in the AP Poll.
