Big Game

Post by BLGCAT » Sun Jan 16, 2011 12:14 pm

Todays win against a struggling eagles team can keep us in a tie for 2nd place with the griz at 5-1. I am pleasently suprised with this team, and the way they have started conference play. With so many new faces to this team, it was anyones guess as to how they would play together. I have been amazed at the impact the frosh Reid has impacted this team, and how much Piepoli has struggled. If the Cats are able to keep Dean sp? under control today, I see a somewhat lopsided game. Any thoughts?

Go Cats

I think the Cats need to get as many early season wins as they possibly can. I still believe that the ceiling for teams like Griz, UNC and Weber are higher than the Cats team.

The thing about this Cat's team is that they bring great effort every night and that usually gives them a chance for a win.

Qualify for the playoffs and see if any magic can happen.

Shot 8 for 27 in the first half and I bet 12 of those shots were basic layups that they are missing. EWU came to play an MSU is stuck in mud right now.

Singleton just went down, they are wrapping up his ankle... came down on a defender's foot.

Cats are play much better in the 2nd half, up by 8 with 7:41 left.

Cats win 71-59. Played very well 2nd half. Hit their free throws much better. Alou had 13 or 14 points and played very well. Rush had a double double.

Another huge stat is Cats outrebounded EWU 39-22... crushed them on the boards. Cats were 16-22 field goals in 2nd half and 49% for the game. Howard was scoreless the first half and ended with 14 as we had 5 players in double figures. Alou scored 13 and had 6 boards, Rush had 15 points I think and 10 boards.

Couldn't finish inside in the first half. It was really frustrating. Only 23 points at half time. But a much better second half. Howard was shut out in the first but a huge factor in the second. Defense was good throughout-did a good job of putting the clamps on Dean. EWU is extremely undersized and there were mis-matches all over the court. Usually, those go to the bigger team (not always).

A really good start to the conference-but it's just a start. A long stretch of road games coming up.
