Hennessy to Forgo Senior Season, 4/17/09

Post by SonomaCat » Wed Apr 08, 2009 1:23 pm

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Montana State guard James Hennessy, a junior who has
battled knee injuries throughout his college basketball career, will
forgo his final year of eligibility due to a career-ending injury.

"James was poised to have a big year for us this season but had some
tough breaks with a variety of injuries," said MSU coach Brad Huse. "He
has been through so much physically, and unfortunately there are no
guarantees with his recent knee injury. He is a tremendous student, and
he will stay at Montana State to finish his degree. James has been an
outstanding representative of our program, and I wish him nothing but
the best."

Hennessy played in all 24 2008-09 games before an injury ended his
season. He averaged 1.9 points with 28 assists last year, 2.6 points
with 51 assists after transferring to MSU as a sophomore in 2007-08.

A native of Williston, N.D., Hennessy led Williston State to the
National Junior College Athletic Association Championship Tournament as
a freshman in 2005-06, but missed the next season with an injury. He
earned North Dakota's Mr. Basketball and Gatorade Player of the Year
honors as a senior at Williston High School.

This sucks big time!! I was really hoping that not only would Hennessy get a lot of playing time next season, but also his senior leadership would be a benefit to the squad. Best of luck James on finishing your schooling and continued success in life. Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat.

I'm sorry to see that. I thought Hennessy would be a good one here, and it's always better to step away when you can and be able to walk at the age of 50 than to try to keep going and face bigger problems down the road. I also think that Hennessy wouldn't have been the starter next year; Marquis Navarre seems to have the point guard spot locked up. I wish him well in making progress toward finishing his degree here at MSU.

GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan! :) =D^ \:D/
My name is Steve, if you'd like to know.
