WWB Playoff Lady Cats vs Portland State

Post by bpcats » Fri Mar 13, 2009 6:03 pm

Cats off to rough start.

PSU 31
Cats 24

Garcia already has 3 fouls. PSU is hitting most of their 3 point attempts. The Cats are being careless with the ball and aren't guarding very well.

Halftime 42-38 Hoefer with basket
PERRY STEAL AND MISSES A THREE AT THE BUZZER

Cats are playing reckless..not taking care of the ball...but are lucky to be within 4. They have to come to the ball on passes, stay in front of the shooters on the perimeter, and take good shots!

Down four at the half, they're ok. Need to step it up a bit in the second. Go Cats!!!!

If PSU would just miss a shot every now and then maybe the Cats could get back into this game.

Got to cut into that 10 point lead ASAP. PSU is tough to make a last minute run against.

PSU is stronger , quicker, experienced and overall more talented. they also aren't as tired having not played last night! Cats need to hit the weights, and work on crisp passing if they want to play like PSU.

Cats had a chance under a minute but threw the ball away. They have to be more careful with the ball. They played really hard but made way too many mistakes. 72-64

71 to 64 final PSU. Listening to the game on the radio, from the crowd and announcer's response, we were getting robbed by the officials on many of the second half calls. Dont know if this really made a difference in the game, but congrats to the ladies on a great effort and a good season! Lots to look forward to. GO CATS!

PSU is very, very good.

I thought the game was well and fairly officiated.

PSU and if UM wins looks like a good championship game.

Agreed.

It would be great if the loser of that game would get serious consideration for an at-large bid. I know it won't happen (the Griz will get some consideration -- but likely not enough -- should they lose), but I think both teams are among the 64 best teams in the nation.

edit: I just heard on the radio that the Griz are 42-9 all-time in the BSC tournament.  Holy crap!

PSU deserved to win. They played better tonight and controlled the game. If UM wins, good luck with PSU.

The Cats need a player like Brittney Lohman on their team who can hold their position down on the blocks.

I think that Semansky, and Banis will really help this team next year. I'm also looking forward to Janette Jackson being able to play. From what Coach Binford said she is the most athletic player on the team and a defensive star.
