I received this e-mail from the MSU SID and thought I'd pass it on to those around the state.

(Per the KPAX-TV web site)

Montana's News Station will televise the second hoops match up between
the Bobcats and the Grizzlies. Tip off is Saturday, February 7, 2009
with a doubleheader. In the afternoon the ladies take the court at
2:00, then its a prime time meeting of the men at 7:00 pm.

Women's College Basketball: MSU vs. Montana, 2 pm
Men's College Basketball: MSU vs. Montana, 7 pm

How you receive the CW depends upon the type of TV you have and the type
of service (over the air, cable, or satellite) you use. If you have a
newer television with a digital tuner or you've installed a new digital
converter box, you can pick up the CW in these markets on these
channels.

City Call Letters Channel
Missoula, KPAX-DT, 8.2
Billings, KTVQ-DT, 2.2
Bozeman, KBZK-DT, 7.2
Butte, KXLF-DT, 4.2
Great Falls, KRTV-DT, 3.2

Some viewers in Western and Southwest Montana can watch the CW through
their satellite service.

Local CW Satellite Service Channel
Western MT CW - Dish Network 7
Bozeman CW - DirecTV 14
Butte CW - DirecTV 14

Several cable systems around the state also carry Montana's local CW
stations. Unfortunately the Griz games won't be seen on every cable
system due to limited local signal availability, so check your local
listings. Below are some of the cable systems carrying the CW Network

So if I get Great Falls, KRTV through Dish Network, do I get it or not.

Usually when they saw CW it stands for Can't Watch IMO

Doubt it...

It's not on the digital cable menu, nor is there anything in the paper indicating that the game will be aired in Helena.

Because of that, the wife and I are just getting ready to head up to Bozeman for the game.

Well once again it looks like the Big Sky TV is going to be unwatchable. Sigh.

Yeah, pretty weak. I get these odd shadows around everyone that makes it appear as though there are about 5 of everyone on the floor.

I wonder what it would cost to get Max Media to buy the broadcast rights for cat / griz game?

I wish some big money Cat booster would step up write a check!

Just to let you know that we do NOT get the game (Girls Cat/Griz) on Great Falls KRTV over Dish Network. They are boradcasting Golf right now.
This has been the case other times that Montana News Station is broadcasting over the CW networks. Much of Eastern Montana and even Helena does not recieve these feeds. I am not sure if you have anything to do with this but I think in future years this should be a consideration when awarding broadcast rights. I would estimate that roughly a third of the state is not able to recieve this feed. I realize that MNS is a western based broadcaster and I expect this type of treatment of eastern Montana by UM's primary broadcaster but I think that MSU should treat eastern Montana a little better than UM does

here is what I got
msusportsinfo wrote:Thanks for letting me know. We have nothing to do with this and neither does Learfield. This is strictly a KPAX network decision. I suggest the fans in Great Falls and Helena mount some kind of complaint to the stations directly--it's unthinkable that golf (no offense--I golf) would have more veiwers than the Cat-Griz game. The listing that we got from KPAX that we published in a press release must have been false, then.
I think that MSU must have some control over who is awarded the broadcast rights and I think we need to let them know that the CW network only covers PART of Montana and not all of it.

Now BigSkyTV has tracers everytime somebody moves. What did MSU's administration say? I checked out the other BSC games at half time and they all looked perfect.

So this is what it feels like being a sports fan in the 40s. Radio only. Sweet.

I can't even tell which team is which... I can't see the hoop anymore either. Is this what it feels like to be on acid?

LOL! I was thinking the same thing!

For awhile there it sort of looked like an Impressionist's painting which had been turned on it's side before all the paint dried!

Right up to the point the whole &*#@!ing thing froze completely. Big Sky TV is exactly that - BSTV. Can't complain about free, but I will anyway.
