Cats Vs EWU

Cats down 33-38 at half. I don't understand this team. It must be the youth and inexperience. They could come out and beat EWU in the second half, or tank it and lose by 20. It's a toss up...

BTW, BSTV is again a pile of heaping poo. Why is it that all the other schools in the conference can put up a decent stream, but MSU can't? Frickin sad.

I just got home and tried to watch via BigSkyTV. What is up with MSU's feed the last few games? It is leaving trails on the screen, blocks and what not. It is unwatchable.

Totally unwatchable. Looks like some sort of METHEAD Artists rendering of a ball game.

Hey the good news though is that the CATS are up 56-53

Did anyone happen to catch EW's coach do the donkey kong stomp at the end of the game? I had a good laugh, as did the ref.

Really bizzare. He jumped up into the air, lifted his knees, and then hit the ground with both feet at the same time. The ref smiled, and then gave him a technical. The crowd rejoiced.

I bet is was watchable enough for people to see the refs trying to screw us over and give the game away.

Ok, I went to the game last night, the first one in two years. I have a few questions maybe someone with more basketball knowledge can help me out.

1. Austin Brown is the best defensive player on the team! I did not see him play in the first half (came in late with 12 to go)! Second half he was 3/4 on 3 pointers. Why does this kid not play? Is he a frosh?
2. It is obvious that Huse likes to run a perimeter shooting offense with the big man positioning him self for offensive boards. Why do we run this with no real shooting threats? Do we have a player that is capable of putting up 20+ on a consistent basis?
3. Guard play, real quick, but is he a frosh too? Seemed like he didn’t really understand what was going on.
4. Crowd was completely out of the game till the final 5 minutes, what happened to the crazy student section we used to have?
5. Free throws.... wow! It seems that this team is/was very un-disciplined, that or very young, which one is it.

On a side not congrats Griz on a huge win over PSU last night!

1. Yes, he is a true freshman. He should get more PT.
2. I think Howard or Will can put up 20+. And our best 3 point shooter is Piepoli and Howard.
3. Navarre is not a freshmen but he is a newcomer this year.
4. The crows wasn't that bad. I'd say they were pretty into the game the last 15 minutes. Thursday night games are never going to be as good attendance-wise as Saturday games.
5. I have no answer.

Austin is a true freshman, who out played a JC recruit to avoid a redshirt this year. The JC Larry Swan got the redshirt. Early in the year - maybe the first game, Huse mentioned that Austin had a very bright future as a Cat, and that he would see playing time early. When asked about who might be our best defender this year, he went through a short list of players and then said that he thought that Brown had potential to be a the best of the bunch down the line and could be a "lock down defender". I think Austin has a bright future with the Cat's, but he is young. All that said in my opinion he has been the player who has improved the most over the last few months, and I would not be surprised to see his minutes improve more and more the the rest of the season.

Austin Brown reminds me a little bit of Ray Willis-except he's a little bigger and more athletic. Maybe it's because they're both from Texas.

Willis if you recall started out as a defensive specialist and blossomed into one of our most complete guards and a fan favorite.

Brown hit a few last night-but sometimes his shot is a knuckle ball. If he had a better outside shot-he'd probably be in the Big 12. He's certainly athletic enough-when he jumps he just keeps going up. He'll probably lead the league in goal tending.

I keep waiting for this team to settle down offensively, but sometimes it looks like they're regressing. It's been a frustrating bunch to watch-thus the mixed crowd response.

Great win last night by the Cats! More importantly, the win helps solidify our spot in the top six to earn a berth into the Big Sky Conference tourney. I don't see us mustering enough steam to make a run at one of the top two spots, but if we can get into the tourney we can make some noise. Sunday's game against PSU is a big one (hell, in my opinion they are all big games). Let's keep the throttle down Cats!!!

I like in the piece of ****** GF trib today how the griz got a big picture winning over the vikes, Cats get an article below it about beating ewu, no picture. Then on the back page they have an article about the lady Cats losing, but just a box score and nothing else about the lady griz losing. No article no nothing. That paper is the biggest pile griz lovers I have ever seen. Geise is an idiot. Sorry for my ranting.

I think we can beat anyone if we hit a few shots early to gain confidence and hit free throws. the defense and the rebounding is good enough . Last night we had 18 assists on 22 filed goals. a far cry from 4 assists last Thursday. Missing 12 out 29 free throws made it close.
