I'm not sure any better of a coach would come to MSU for what they pay and the circumstances surrounding the job.

With all due respect, that's a load of crap! And even if you might be right, what's the risk? We could be worse? So what? I couldn't feel lower about the program right now. Heck I'd trade places with Southern Utah. Sure they're terrible and only have one win, but at least their team is showing signs of improvement. Huse's teams do not improve, they get worse as the season goes on. Season after season.

I think Huse needs go watch his son play for the Hawks for a while and then find himself a nice assistant job or a Frontier head coach job. Pay him the rest of this season and all of next for not coaching and turn the team over to Haslam and Dirden. If they don't get it done (or show some improvement) clean house and start over. There's no risk in doing this, because I don't think Bobcat fans can feel worse about this team even if they lose more.

I might be reading too much in between the lines and could be wrong, but I think what Colter is saying is that Huse (like Ash and Binford) is the epitome of a Peter Fields hire. Peter would never hire someone like Kramer, Hauck, Van Diest, or even Kryskowiak (sp?), because they don't fit the mold of politician who says the right things in front of a camera, graduates players, wins enough games to keep fans happy, and not rock the boat. Whether or not we COULD find someone better than Huse isn't necessarily the issue, compared to whether or not Fields would hire someone better than Huse.

Bingo!! I think that's spot on. Ash, Binford, and Huse are all pretty low-key personality types, which definitely mirrors Field's own personality. Everyone admires and respects Coach Ash, and he's been very successful, but I wouldn't characterize him as being particularly charismatic. I think it may take someone with a bigger personality to rejuvenate the MBB program, particularly in terms of rebuilding fan interest. Although winning would cure most of our ills, regardless of the coach's personality.

I believe they said the attendance was just barely over 4,000? It seems like it was only a few years ago, when Cat-Griz was still an automatic sellout. I know it's a Monday night, and the weather is crappy, but still. In years past this game was sometimes played while the students were still on Christmas break, and they still drew well over 4,000. I tried to get excited when MSU drew within a point in the 2nd half, but I just knew they'd lose. This was a Griz team that was only 4-5 in conference going into this game. So what's your prediction for our record in the 2nd round of conference play? I'm guessing 2-8 or 3-7, which would almost certainly mean missing the tourney. At this point, I almost hope we don't make it, because I'm afraid the only way Fields will make a change is if we miss the tourney 2 or 3 years in a row. It really is starting to feel similar to the Solomonson era in football. Those few of us who still have any interest, expect to lose every game. It would be somewhat humorous, albeit in a painful way, to go back and read some of the posts through the first 5 conference games, especially the ones scolding us realists for being so negative during our brief, hot start.

Winning solves everything. I have to admit that earlier this season when I watched our men beat No. CO and NAU (both of which BEAT UM in Missoula by the way), I was enthused and excited.

Now I'm done. It is so bad that a friend offered me his tickets to the rest of the men's games free and I said no.

My fan interest in the men's team has dropped to zero and I will not be at another game. Period.
